The local grocery store was stuffed again, yesterday. Chicken breast packages; buy one, get one. And Target made the news yet again because it's sitting on so much store inventory. We don't have a Target around here, but they're a huge retailer by which to judge national trends. Our local stores are Kroger.

Very soon I think we will begin subtracting many of the "supply chain" and "shortage" contributors to inflation.
    History will judge the complicit.

I hope that's true. I'm still seeing many shortages in random items, from bread, milk, meat, and eggs to toiletries and boxed/canned/frozen foods. They're not persistent in the same items, but it always seems like SOMETHING is missing with a "sorry, out of stock" sign hung on the shelf.

All, I picked up some eggs at Kroger last night. They were 10% more expensive than two months ago. Inflation is still here.

Same here. Not nearly as bad as it had been but still empty spots on shelves from time to time. Also, a lot of supplies back ordered at work. We're often borrowing from other sites that still have things in stock.

Kind of a related issue is the fact that when COVID hit, a lot of companies trimmed their product lines to boost production of their most popular items. A lot of flavors and varieties went away. I'm wondering how many of those things are gone for good.

Today returning by plane from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, I counted exactly 18 container ships in and around the Long Beach & Los Angeles ports as far as my eyes could see. Some progress is being made from the height when over 100 ships were waiting to port.

I went grocery shopping yesterday at Wegmans and stopped at the pharmacy to buy Claritin-D. They were out of it. I went to Walmart today for one other over the counter medication and the Claritin-D. They were out of the OTC product and the pharmacy was closed for no apparent reason. It wasn't lunch time, when many pharmacies close now, and there were no signs indicating when they'd reopen so I'm guessing that was a staffing issue. I finally was able to get both items at CVS. So it took going to 3 different stores in 2 days to get what I needed. Well at least gas is cheap .
I have a uterine biopsy coming up Monday, which I will apparently have without benefit of the recommended Rx (which is to be taken prior to the procedure). It is not available and will not be available. My Dr. says that there is no substitute, and we can proceed without it as it is only for my comfort. I'm not terribly excited about that.

That's awful. Good luck and I hope the lack of that medication doesn't greatly impact your comfort.

OK, so I had my biopsy today. It was quite uncomfortable without the Rx. The drug my Dr. prescribed would have opened my cervix for the biopsy. Since I did not have the drug, the Dr. used a series of medical tools to do that job. Guess what other procedure this drug is used for? It is used in abortions. I am no longer sure this supply chain issue is a supply chain issue at all.

Imagine that. Unintended consequences to moronic political actions causing pain and suffering for people that have nothing to do with the issue they were trying to address.

but you're in California and it's not an illegal Rx. In fact specifically the FDA said states can't ban the legal drugs they approve. Just the use of the drugs correct?

Correct, I'm in California where it is not illegal. But if I am the manufacturer of a drug used for abortions and I see in the news that someone leaked SCOTUS' plan to overturn Roe v Wade, might I not cease or drastically scale back production of that drug? I think I might.

We are in the middle of a new home rebuild / remodel and haven't encountered much difficulty, however there have been a couple instances where companies such as the roof shingle manufacturer no longer carries some of the color lines. the painter indicated the same thing, said we should get colors selected well in advance. No major inconveniences yet.
