Back to your original point that people should give more to their minimum-wage job than they are paid, as a matter of course, it's just not logical. Economic mobility data in the US just doesn't support it except in exceeding and vanishingly rare cases. You took a polarizing populist opinion and swallowed it whole. The reality is there's a labor pool who won't or can't contribute more than the minimum, and not only is it an important part of our economy, but it's a fact we all have to live with. And that's all I'm going to discuss or reply.

The debate is between should salary be paid based on productivity or based on how easy you could be replaced? Objectively speaking, productivity increases the value of the company, while difficulty in replacing your position dictates your salary.
Want to be paid more through productivity? Buy the company stock
Want to be paid more through salary? Become more irreplaceable
