My spouse and I are both early retirees, unemployed, pre 65, so are limited to purchasing health insurance through the ACA (Obamacare) program. For the last couple years we've paid in the range of $18-20k annually for some average, so so health insurance with relatively high deductibles and no dental or vision coverage.
Went to renew today and was expecting similar but got a pleasant surprise. In past years if your income exceeded $67k you were not eligible for any discounts, so we paid full price $18-20k annually. In our meeting today she tells us that along with many of the other Covid freebies, hand outs, and forgiveness plans over the last year they have raised the ACA income threshold for discounts to $250k, which we will fall easily under. This year, the same plan will only cost approx. $12k, for an $8k annual savings.
That's a pretty sweet savings we sure weren't expecting.
