  • Stock up before the 4% price increase!!!

That's right folks. The Forever stamp is going back up to $.49 from the current price of $.47. Price increase going into effect this upcoming Sunday.

    I hardly use stamps anymore.

The last book of stamps that I bought lasted me over a year.

One thing the USPS is good at is losing money. They can jack up the prices all they want...they'll be the next sears.

In my area (DC) amazon/ups took pity on usps and allows them to deliver amazon packages on sundays.

We probably go through about three books of stamps a year with two of those being used for Christmas cards

I don't think it's "pity". The USPS has been delivering small packages for UPS for a few years, because they can apparently do it cheaper.

I'm sure we use fewer than 100 stamps per year. I think we can absorb the $2.00 or less per year extra that we'll be spending into our budget without having to cut back too much.

We just got a printer cartridge delivered by USPS that was shipped UPS. I didn't realize they did that until this month.

Yeah, the $2.00 would also be offset by the huge inconvenience of finding somewhere to store all of those stamps.

How? They have no incentive to turn a profit.

But they have an incentive to not lose money.

I don't see the problem. They are doing just as good as any other government ran system.
Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you're stupid and make bad choices.

Happy to pay a few cents extra. The post office has it much harder than other govt agencies - they are expected to be profitable but are also expected to be totally accessible and affordable to all. I think what they're doing with delivering amazon packages in partnership with UPS is pretty smart.

A heck of a lot better IMO.

I suppose you could buy $1 million in forever stamps and when they tick up another 4%, bootleg them for a profit.

People still buy stamps? I bought a book before Christmas to send out my 5 cards and I had lost track of my old book. This should last me 4 years at this rate (yes, I send 0 through the mail the rest of the year).
