  • Baby strollers are how much?!

So, we have always used whatever Walmart hard, and thought we were really making it big time to have brands like Graco that were not a store brand. 200$ for a stroller was luxury to us. Well, having a better income this go ground (7 years later) we wanted to get a decent double stroller. Boy howdy at some of these prices. They actually have a high end stroller called Buggaboo Donkey..... To match the not so flattering name is the price tag. i've seen them as high as 1900$. That's just stuipd.

I got all kinds of confused trying to figure out all these modular setups that help make doubles more useable.

What we ended up getting was a Britax B ready off ebay. A lady had one and didn't use it long (some don't like it). She accepted my offer of 350$. It includes the stroller, car seat add on with vehicle base, rain cover, cup holder, car seat bar(needed for car seat to be used as a double), food tray, and then I got a bassinet off ebay new from someone who received it as a gift and didn't want it. They let it go for 30$ shipped. All in all I have 380$ in this. Brand new retail right now would be over 1000$. I feel like it was a win.

Once the newborn can be in a regular toddler seat I'll buy the add-on seat for this stroller. It's 120$ so I'll see what I can get it for then.

If you wanted, you could change the style daily.

We bought a Britax when our daughter was born. I remember it was $400 because I nearly had a panic attack at the store, but when you want specific things you get to pay specific prices. Back then, very few car sears were airline approved and could hook on to a shopping cart. It didn't even come with stroller. But I bought the strollers used at garage sales and saved a lot. Yes, strollers with an S. I needed the nice, heavy-duty one, the umbrella one, and a double one because my nephew is 30 days younger than my daughter because my sister has to have everything I have!!!!

Quick update. I bought a second Britax B ready. lol.

I happened to look on our local facebook yardsale page, and found someone selling a Britax. I was surprised as we are a smaller LCOL area, you don't find higher end stuff like this very often for sale around here. The highest end place we have is Walmart. lol. She was only asking $125, so I contacted her. Turned out she had the stroller, second bottom seat, and an organizer add-on all for 125$! That's 500$ on amazon. I was going to have to buy a second seat in about 6 months since the one I already got came with the car seat as a second option, which we needed first. The cheapest I could find a second seat for was on ebay for $105. So, for $125 I can have a second seat AND a second 300$ stroller. Win, win!

We were talking about getting a second, cheaper stroller to have when my mom takes my toddler and we still have the baby, but this works out even better. If nothing else I can resell that thing on eBay or craigslist later on and get my money back(and then some), effectively getting the second seat for free.

You should protect it with that duct tape above so it holds its value

That sounds like most of us that buy nice phones and enjoy the high-end look(looking at you iPhone and Galaxy S7 users), but then buy a 10$ phone cover that hides it completely to protect it. haha

Go with the Gold Glitter look and it might add value

I'm still a bit in shock I've spent 500$ on the whole setup, regardless of the fact that it's 1500$ worth of stuff. I was just starting this year out with better saving practices.

                    I feel so, dirty....

Did you use the brand new one yet? Perhaps you can return it since you were able to find a quality one used.

They are both used. That is why they are so cheap.

I got this one for my first baby shower in 1995 https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=...84350000038767
and used it for all 3 of my kids. You could put the carriage part up to make a seat for a toddler. When I had 2 I left it down as the pictures shows and put one kid in front and one in back. By the time the 3rd came the 1st was out of a stroller.

I still have that stroller today and use it to lug things around when we go to theme parks or swimming pools ( put my lounge chair and cooler in it) and push the stuff around. So much easier than carrying.

In fact funny story, we took my DD back to college and I wanted to bring it to put all her duffle bags and stuff we needed to move back in the dorm in case we couldn't get a cart. But I was over ruled by my family. They thought it would look to hooptee. So everyone came and we carried it all in in one trip.

just curious... do the used car seats have an expiry date on the label?

I recall reading that after a while a car seat should not be used any longer; assuming due to wear and tear as well as safety standards always changing.

It is fine to buy pretty much any baby stuff used but you should never buy a used car seat. It is impossible to tell by looking if it is safe to use. It could have damage from an auto accident that weakens the structure but isn't visible. It isn't worth taking a chance. Buy car seats new.

As for everything else - strollers, cribs, toys, clothes, etc. - buy used whenever you can. The best part of buying used is that you can usually resell the stuff when you are done with it and get back about the same price (sometimes even more) than you paid.
