  • Amazon Prime - Upcoming Sale???

Just recently I started thinking about switching from Hulu to Amazon Prime for our TV shows/movies. I was talking to a soccer dad this afternoon that I knew used it. When I mentioned it was only few dollars more a month than the $7.95 I pay for Hulu, he told me he got an annual membership and only paid around $80. He said he got it around this time last year and to keep my eye out for a sale.

I did a search and found out that I missed one on November 18th.

So my question is, does anyone know if they are likely to have another sale this month? Or was the November sale what he was probably referring to and I already missed it.

I am most likely going to switch regardless, but any discount I can take advantage of is more money I can put into retirement.

Well if you have a student email account, you can sign up for student prime for 50 bucks/year. Kind of a loophole with a sprinkle of dishonesty but it does save you some $$$.

I bought Prime at a discount on 1-15-16. Amazon was celebrating because their series "Mozart in the Jungle" won an Emmy. Other than Prime Day, you might have to wait for another Emmy for a discount.

Have you tried their free trial?

That is what I am planning to do if I don't see a sale prior to Christmas.

A couple of our friends are convinced there will be a sale prior to Christmas but it certainly isn't looking that way.

However, I have waited this long so it won't hurt to give it through the end of the week.

you can only get prime discounted once and have to be a new user. I got it for 70$ last year, and it renewed a couple months back for 99. I dropped Netflix and just use this, but we watch very little tv. We mostly watch movies and I am collecting Disney, Dreamworks, and other family content. I try to keep everything kid friendly. I mainly have prime to get free 2 day shipping and watch the Grand Tour.

I'm up to 242 movies, with around 50 being Disney.
Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you're stupid and make bad choices.

Maybe ask around to your friends if they already have Amazon Prime and go halves with them on the cost. Or maybe borrow their password for a while (they can change it later) to get a feel for the selection first. I am not overly impressed.

Our son, as a student, paid just $50 for his membership. We share it even after he moved out. Netflix suits us better
