Commodity:
The word commodity is a term with distinct meanings in business and in Marxian political economy. For the former, it is a largely homogeneous product, whereas for the latter, it refers generically to wares offered for exchange.
Linguistically, the word commodity came into use in English in the 15th century, being derived from the French word "commodité" , meaning todays (2000) "convenience" in term of quality of services. The Latin root meaning is commoditas, referring variously to the appropriate measure of something; a fitting state, time or condition; a good quality; efficaciousness or propriety; and advantage, or benefit. The German equivalent is die Ware, i.e. wares or goods offered for sale. The French equivalent is "produit de base" like energy, goods, industrial raw materials.

Celebrities are constant fodder for what's considered 'important' news. They set trends and provide examples - not just for the young and impressionable - but for the older and should-know-better impressionable set as well.
What does this have to do with commodities?

From Rosie O'Donnel, Mia Farrow, Angelina Jolie, Penelope Cruz, Kirstie Alley, among just a few of those single women who have adopted or considering single-parent adoption....
....Have we simply forgotten or are we allowing celebrities and hollywood dictate our moral behavior?
BABIES ARE NOT COMMODITIES THEY ARE HUMAN BEINGS!
When I hear newly married couples talk about their future plans (financial or otherwise) it's scary.
Hardly anyone marries anymore with 'children' as a primary consideration for their union. Money, Career, house, fancy cars, lots of stuff, stuff, stuff and a comfortable lifestyle. Children are at the bottom of the list somewhere where you may also find the word 'God'....
