Once you hit 64 in this state, can buy a "forever license" for $23.
Nice. We're approaching that age where we get to start taking advantage of all sorts of senior discounts. There were a few here and there at 55, will be more at 62, and even more at 65 so we've still got a few years to go. I'll take whatever discounts and freebies places want to give us.

    * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
    * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
    * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

My buddy (a HS classmate) remarked ....... That's because they figure we don't have too many years of fishing left

          • An item DH recently purchased at Costco went on sale. He took in his receipt and got a $5 price adjustment (credit to our card).

Totally unexpected money so that's a win for sure.
I love unexpected money! It's like an unexpected Christmas present.

              • Been having great success fishing for crappie over last several weeks. Fillet them up, 10 fillets to the bag and freeze in water, feeds 2-3 people.
Have put quite a few good meals in the freezer and eaten a few meals of fresh fish as well recently.

Not to mention, it's lots of fun.

                • I went to book a rental car for a sisters trip and my SIL asked me if I had a corporate discount we could use. I have used our corporate discount (allowed) for hotels but have never thought to check for car rentals before.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover how good our discount is. I saved $100 for the weekend and then another $150 for a trip later next month.

                  Win!

                      • Caught a bunch of fish and found a few mushrooms last few days.
That's always a win in my book.

                          • Sold a car. $1k less than I bought it for, 5 years ago. It was a fun car, and the young man who bought it from me was absolutely thrilled to have it. We just paid the insurance policy too, so 6 months of premium will be coming back!

That's amazing. What a crazy market. You got to "rent" a car for 5 years for $1,000. I would take that deal in a heartbeat.

Technically it's a low-mile classic car, and had I sold it in 2022, I probably would have gotten 1-2k more for it, but I wasn't done enjoying it yet. I waited too long, but, to your point, for 5 years of ownership, 90% resale isn't bad, classic or not.
