  • I have picked around twelve pounds of fresh morels out of the woods over the last week or so. These things sell at the local markets for $50 per pound.
We don't sell any; eat a lot of them fresh, freeze some for later use, and give away the rest to friends and family.

Morels are a wonderful spring time treat.

a friend of mine is big time into picking mushrooms.
I don't know enough about them to feel safe doing it.
Picking the wrong one could kill you.

I do like sheephead, if you've ever had those.

      • Today I got $217 knocked off the cost of the light fixtures for our new house by checking prices online and getting the prices matched.

            • The wife and I were able to make $850 on sports betting through deposit bonuses and profit boosts this last week.

              • Today I paid a couple bills on time, including a credit card statement that was paid in full.
I checked my checking & savings accounts online and made sure my registers were balanced.

Maybe it's not as interesting as trying to figure out the next hot investment, but it feels like cumulatively my biggest wins come from things I've managed to avoid.
No late fees, penalties or interest. No overdraft fees. No speeding tickets (except that one time-oops). No lawyers dragged in to family squabbles. You get the idea.
This is something everyone can do.

                • We had a Bat Mitzvah to attend this afternoon. My wife realized at the last minute that we hadn't gotten a card (it's been a crazy week). She said she could make one on the Cricut but was having some technical difficulty and it wasn't working right. She said we could just stop on the way and buy one. I hate buying greeting cards. They are basically $5 holders for cash or a check that go right into the trash. So I jumped on the computer, found a nice graphic, grabbed a sheet of cardstock, and printed out a pretty card. I have a paper cutter and trimmed it to size. Our daughter does faux calligraphy so we had her address the envelope. My wife wrote a nice message inside (along with the cash gift). Total cost? Maybe 35 cents.

                  * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
                  * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
                  * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

                  • My wife and I have had our best month yet on the online sportsbooks. We have made an extra $1,500 give or take a few. Hope this easy money lasts longer but don’t expect it to go on forever.

                    • My cousin passed away on Monday. That's a huge loss, of course, but you have to keep your sense of humor alive so my "win" is that I got the first installment of my inheritance. He had $85 cash in his wallet. He also had 2 gift cards that community residents get as part of their HOA dues. They're good at a local restaurant. I just checked the balances and between the two cards, there is just over $191.00 credit. I'm heading down there this week to start cleaning out the house and settling his affairs so I guess I know where I'll be having several of my meals.

                      • We finally booked our honeymoon! We’re going to Mexico for 15 days. We’ve been able to pay a lot of the initial costs with points.

10 nights at the Ritz Carlton (~$4500 value) and our RT airfare (~$1000 value) completely free with points.

Thank you!! We are married but we are doing our wedding and honeymoon this year. The pandemic got in the way of our original plans so everything shifted a year.

It’s a little unconventional but it’s been an unconventional past year. We didn’t want to delay our marriage but we wanted to wait until it was safe to celebrate with friends and family. We are doing a micro wedding outdoors so still not our original plans but we’re excited all the same!

                            • THREE BUCKS!

I bought some ACDelco oil filters from Rock auto and noticed there was a rebate link. They were doing an e-rebate for $1.00 for each filter, and I bought a few. Usually you have to mail a form, cut up boxes for UPC's, circle amounts and dates, part numbers. Nope. Uploaded my order invoice from RockAuto and was done. Couple days later, an e-visa gift card showed up in my inbox....for $3.

Cheap thrills for just a few clicks.
                              History will judge the complicit.
