Some pics I snapped around my neighborhood after 90 mph straightline winds rolled through Monday. We're on day 3 with no power. Local utility had 250k out of their total 800k customers lose power. Down to 140k out now and the mutual assistance crews rolled in last night. Fingers crossed we're back up before tomorrow but some of the more extensively damaged neighborhoods could be another day or two. By far the longest outage I can recall.

Hope your power comes back soon. We had a Derecho blow through here in June and it was a mess. Huge trees down everywhere, power lines down, streets blocked.Steve

Wow, what a mess.
Those are some really large looking trees that got blown over.
Have you guys considered getting a generator?james.c.hendrickson@gmail.com

I've been kind of disconnected from news sources, so I don't know how bad it has been on the whole here, but I did log into the power outages listings yesterday and saw that something like 27,000 households were out of power in the city, but many, many more across the rive in Illinois. Out and about in the neighborhood yesterday I saw scenes simialt to what you have posted.
Today, though, we had a huge downpour and I am currently waiting for the sewer department to get here to inspect our basement because it suffered a small (thank God, only small !) back-up. I'm hoping they can help us source some bleach for clean-up, as we are almost out of bleach and I don't feel comfortable going to several stores trying to locate some. The two houses just downhill from us have special "grinder pumps" to prevent sewer back ups. Those were installed by the sewer department years ago. Maybe they are going to tell me we need the same, as this is the fourth rain-caused event in 27 years. (In my city our old sanitary sewers are not separate from storm water sewers. Wow, what a sight...hopefully they restore power and things get back to normal soon.
We had some bad weather in the Minneapolis area on Monday and I saw Iowa got the worst of it. Phones went off advising to take cover, 1.5” hail and damaging winds, tornadoes possible in the area.. good thing we’re on the other side of the country this week.
Our place is fine, per the neighbors, but some weren’t so lucky. Amazing how the weather can take such a nasty turn.History will judge the complicit.

My local utility is expecting to have the remaining 6,500 outages restored by the end of today. Other utility in the state is struggling with still more than 80k without power. Starting to get noticed that the national attention has been negligible and our gov has not asked for federal assistance. Seeing some posts on Twitter where whole apartment complexes are sleeping in tents in the parking lot because their buildings have been deemed uninhabitable. Crop damage is estimated in the billions and can be seen from space. Is 2020 over yet?
