    Re: Arrrrgghh!

"What really bothers me is when i have to go back to the doctor's for a 'follow-up' visit which often i question whether it's really necessary, and then you have to pay the $15 co-pay a 2nd time."

I agree. I went to see an ear nose & throat specialist re: my tonsils. (after seeing my primary care physician twice in January). The first visit (I wasn't able to get an appointment until mid March) he told me he didn't think it was anything. But he still had me come back 6 weeks later to check up (early May)! So that was 2 check ups for a total of $30, and it turned out that my tonsils are fine. So this one little issue ended up being dragged out for 4 months, 4 doctor copays, and one unnecessary antibiotic prescription. I know it's good to err on the side of caution, but...
    Sorry, enough ranting.

I don't suppose any of you think these are coincidental? The return visit, in most cases, is much more likely for the $ than for your health.

        Arrghs and Thankfulness

My argh this week: bought a little clip on watch ( I clip it to my keys so I can be on time for buses) bought it at discount, with coupon, got it for less than half value -- and after I left the store, i realised it had no watch face -- exposed hands! CRAP! I coulda paid $2 more and had a working one! And I broke the chain on it, so I was too embarrassed to try to return it, since I have a professional gig at that store. Pffft. Wasted coupon. Wasted money. Need new watch again.

However. Must focus on abundance. Im lucky. My library rents movies on VHS and DVD for free. Dude, what a deal! I dont really care if Im not seeing the latest hits, I sure missed enough of them to catch up on at my own pace! And I am more concerned with finding movies that match my mood, anyways. Which is why we dont do TV at all. No channels. Nada. It just sucks me in, worse than the internet!

I have a full cupboard and full fridge of foods I love, I lack no basic necessities, I have friendships all over the country online, and most of all, a family with my SO and a cat I love dearly who adores me and loves to snuggle and nap with me, even if he does massage me with his claws when he is really happy. OUCH. That must be the thorns on the rose

          Re: Arrrrgghh!

poundwise- now that it's over i'm sure it's for the money -- but tonsilitis wasn't ruled out until the last visit, of course. I wanted to make sure it wasn't a serious problem -- because I'm starting my graduate assistantship in in June (and quitting my current job) - (grad student insurance wouldn't likely cover more serious things like surgery if i needed my tonsils out).

A stupid unnecessary mistake I made -- is that I put my Netflix account "on hold" instead of cancelling it, and I have been very busy, and despite an email reminder I sent myself, I didn't cancel the account/prolong the "hold" in time and I was charged for another month. They have sent the movies already, so at least I'm getting a service for the money I paid, but now that the weather's nice I don't want movies-- I'm spending more time outside!

          My stupid mistake.

I hate when you need to see a specialist, you have to go to your dr., so his office can make the appt. for you. Then you have to pay the dr.'s office visit, and I have never had a co-pay I always have to pay the entire bill myself. (this is for my husband, I don't go to doctors)

              Re: Arrrrgghh!

When I had a POS plan and I needed to see a specialist directly, I would simply call the nurse and have her write a referral. I didn't have to pay my primary doctor a copay for that.

                Re: Arrrrgghh!

Something I have started doing, I did not use to do. If I buy something by accident, I now take it back. Yesterday, I bought lightly salted peanuts. My husband likes the regular one. Normally, I would have donated it somewhere or throw away (or fed to critters) but today I took it back and got the kind he likes. So I am going to quit wasting money on stuff like that! (Maybe I am the only one that has done that)

This is getting less and less related to the initial post I think, but re: what Ima just said...

I've gotten into returning things lately if I haven't used them. I.e. When I thought I was going to be a preschool teacher over the summer -- I bought a one piece bathing suit I wouldn't otherwise wear; I bought a pair of sandals with ankle strap (required by my work) that I wouldn't necessarily wear too much outside of work -- since I found out on Thursday that I'll be working for the University I will be attending for grad school, I've located receipts for these things and I plan to return them, instead of hanging on to them out of convenience. (The dress code is going to be quite different).

I have things i have bought that still have tags on them. This was quite a while back and I can't take them back. I have four blouses that i got a year ago for christmas that I have not even worn once. I am going to stop buying any more clothes I don't need.

A side note: if you have clothes with tags on them still you can try selling them on Ebay. Tags attached definitely increases the worth of clothing being sold on Ebay. I've been able to sell known brand items (i.e. Gap, Old Navy, etc) on Ebay that I've worn only once or twice, but that is still in great condition.
