That's the best kind of exit!

I'd like to do the same. It isn't a firm plan at this point, but I suspect that's where my transition to urgent care work will lead. The new job pays 70% more than my old job. If I throw myself into that full speed, I can easily advance my retirement date by a few years.

My parents have never had much money, and I grew up working my own way. I paid for my first car and worked since I was 15 (Did yard work years before that for money). I went to college for 6 months for computers and dropped out. I got two certificaitons, that wouldn't' benefit me until 10 years later, and I was bored with learning nothing new while there. I am self-taught with computers and built my own pc during high school. I have always worked for what I have, and I continuously learn to stay relevant in this field. I have done Golf course grounds keeping, restaurant work(several including manage), CDL truck driving, Lots of manual labor, ministry work, and now professional IT work. I have no degree, but always have a way into the work force with my CDL.

I want to own my own business one day, and I actually started one from home 4 1/2 years ago. I got a tax ID, CC processing, became a page plus dealer, and had started reselling used computers. I had a business model and a lot of plans. What little savings I had I used up trying to buy things to resell. I was tired of making low wages working for someone else. A couple months later I caught the attention of the company I'm in now. A friend who was in charge of the IT department worked there. He didn't think I knew much until he saw me building this business. They offered me a lot more money and a cushy job environment. I love it here, and I have a lot of fun with the others I work with.

One day I would like to go back and still have my own business. I believe I can do it.
Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you're stupid and make bad choices.

There are times I just hated going to work.

I guess sometimes I haven't been doing much work and must show progress. It is more of a nervous, wish the meeting is over kind of feeling. You'd talk and talk and you know that there's no real substance but just make the talk very technical. People there probably knows too but are too polite to say anything.

When I was younger and got sent to customer sites, sometimes, it is a bit scary to go into customers without a solution. But the customers have always been very appreciative when show them how hard you are working and (of course) finally must come up with something of a solution. There's a lot of pressure esp with overseas time limits (e.g. many places have a 2 week stay w/o visa) and the solution is nowhere in sight.

I know there are more times (and probably better), but hard to time of any others ATM.
