I live in Europe, so I'll talk in euros €. As the money I spend (in cash) is usually at the supermarket, no matter how much I buy my bill at checkout never comes to more than 30-40€... so my wallet lives in the 20-60 € range. (1€ = $1.12 at the moment, so fairly similar.)

When I go to Las Vegas my wallet has anywhere between $1500 - $3000 in cash. This past weekend I took $1500 and came back home with $1150, yep I took a hit and I'm licking my wounds so to speak. I had a free room at South Point so didn't have to pay for hotel but charged all meals, airfare, rental car and gas to my credit cards which added another $300 in total but I guess that's besides the point for this thread but I don't like to leave out information.

If you budgeted for the loss and the other expenses, then it's no different from spending $650 on any other weekend trip...

I get my salary on card, not cash, and I've noticed that I spend less money in this way, as when I go to a shop and see my wallet with money in it, I start buying and buying, while when my money is on card,I spend less. Some shops don't have the device for cards, so it keeps me away from spending too much money. And I take small amount of money from my card, when it's not so much necessary to carry cash. I advice you do this way. At the end of the month you'll see that you've saved some money. This way I save my money for my vacations and so you can do.
