People are already abandoning masks around here. And, it's going to be 80 degrees tomorrow so that is just getting silly. And, there is ZERO reason to wear a mask in your car or outside.

You certainly don't need one in your car.

Whether or not you need one outside depends on what you're doing and if you're in close contact with a bunch of other people.

Disney Springs, the shopping and dining complex at Disney World, reopened on Wednesday. They are requiring all guests to wear masks, even outdoors. I think that makes sense because you can't expect people to put the mask on every time they walk into a store, take it off when the walk out, then put it back on when they walk into the next store. Nobody is going to do that. Just keep it on all the time. Of course, it's also been 90+ degrees there so I can't imagine walking around wearing a mask.

Eastern PA. We’re in the cluster of counties scheduled to go to yellow on June 5.

masks on at the store. Everyone is adhering to the rule.

grocery store has one entrance for IN and the other entrance for OUT.

Directional markers in the aisle are gone. The Deli actually had the counter display stocked whereas the previous weeks it was empty and orders were done through the app.

Directional markers at BJs in the aisles but folks are ignoring them or are just blind.

masks in the car: one thing people might forget is that someone may be going from one store to another and don’t want to remove the mask only to put it back on.

Exactly. It's already approaching 100° here in AZ, and the masks are stifling.

Biggest change already is being more considerate of my folks and elderly for distancing, etc. I only started wearing a mask when inside buildings a week ago, which I think now Minneapolis requires mandatory for all businesses, or public facilities. Otherwise once I step outside, I take off. I don't wear one biking on trails either. Grocery shopping habits really haven't changed, go weekly for small purchases, and once a month for Costco. I've been eating more, went to Chick-Fil-A on Thur night for a treat. Since i hardly drive each week I've been making excuses to go out and drive.

My manager told me to get comfortable at home since its sounds like WFH will be for at least another 2 months. A buddy who works for the county just confirmed he's WFH for the rest of the year.

Overall, I don't see many of my habits changing once more things open up. I don't go to bars, hardly dine in at restaurants, avoid the malls since I hate parking and crowds. The biggest concern is traveling options, and when the gyms open up, which I expect to be last with more restrictions. That should interesting how they implement going forward.
"I'd buy that for a dollar!"

I agree. If you're just popping in and out, why bother removing it, especially if it's a tie-on. I wear a mask 12 hours a day at work. It's no annoyance to me at all to have it on when I'm out and about. Heck, at this point, I often forget it's on and go to do something like blow a speck of dust off my glasses before realizing, "Hey dummy, you need to take your mask off first".

Wegmans has the deli counter stocked now also, though as of Wednesday it hadn't reopened yet.

DH and I took a drive from Northern VA to NC. Rest stops in VA--folks were wearing face masks. Once we crossed the line into NC, I only observed one person wearing a face mask. We visited a park in NC that was crowded in you couldn't easily pass any groups on the trails with any social distance so we gave up.

I have tried to make some face masks that are lighter weight, but I will say that there is a huge difference in comfort when it is in the 80's vs in the 60's. So, I don't know how it will be to wear a face mask in the wretchedly hot humid summer in crowded places outside in Northern VA.

Why am I not surprised by that?

I know they were hard to come by early on but I think regular surgical masks are back in stock. I'm surprised more people aren't buying those as they are very light weight. That's what I use when I go out. I still have most of a box that I already had in the house but I just ordered another box of 50 on Amazon for $20. They're supposed to be delivered next week. We'll see if that happens. The recent reviews were good and people said they received them promptly. Even if it takes a couple of weeks, I've got plenty to last until they get here.

We went away for the weekend to a place about 3 hours where we live. It was a cottage that had been vacant since March 23rd. The county it was in was further along opening up. People were shopping and walking without masks. They were eating in restaurants. It was surreal. We ate in our cottage with food we brought. Went to beach and social distanced. But spent all day flying kites and digging in the sand and just relaxing.

I'd say less than 50% of people here wear masks - you see them a lot on workers (probably required) and much less frequently on patrons. Restaurants have been open a couple weeks with capacity restrictions - I have not ventured out to any and don't plan to any time soon. Campgrounds and beaches opened up last week and were adequately packed for the holiday weekend - we opted for a family members lake house on a private lake instead. Bars open Thursday. Will be interesting to see how that goes!

Do you think we're going to see a lot of pent up spending demand as things reopen and people venture out again? I can't wait to dine out, though my wife isn't quite as gung ho so we'll see what happens. Restaurants aren't open yet here anyway.

Some of my coworkers and I are going to hit one of the escape rooms as soon as we can as we bought gift cards last month when they had a big sale. As soon as we can go, we're going, but I'll only be with people I work with every day anyway so no real risk of catching anything.

I'd also like to get away from home as soon as we can, though again my wife isn't so keen on that idea. We'll see what happens.

Believe it or not, there are some of us who wear a mask in a car occasionally, under very specific circumstances, out of an abundance of caution for reasons that we have thought out very carefully.

For those who think there is never, under any circumstances, a reason to wear a mask in a car: Do you feel that the people who are making Meals on Wheels or prescription deliveries to homebound seniors, or are picking up & then delivering supplies to their elderly immunocomprised loved ones, or are making grocery deliveries for people stuck at home with sick children, are being overly cautious if they wear a mask? You think they should not wear masks? Or should they take masks off and on and off and on repeatedly throughout their visits without access to handwashing facilities?

Exactly. If you're getting in and out a lot, like delivering stuff, keeping the mask on makes a lot more sense than taking it on and off repeatedly. And as I said earlier, especially if it is a tie-on mask.
