  • Going out to eat or first thing you'll do?

Okay for anyone who has been on lockdown and unable to eat out, where is first place you will go? Do you think you'll go out immediately or wait?

My neighbors and I keep playing this game. We play where would we go? How soon would we go? My answers have been anywhere. I definitely want to go out with the kids, but I am honestly pretty hesitant that we'll go out for a week or two or maybe a month right after. We were never huge on eating out, lots of take out to begin with, but we did try do a date night once a quarter.

I'm dying really to have friends over for dinner. We definitely won't cook because i'm sick of it. But to be able to sit on our deck and sip drinks and see DH's cousin and a particular couple we're close to with be awesome. I'm also waiting to see when I can buy my next airline tickets. I'd like to see my parents. If this eases up before summer ends I might even get to have the kids go. If not we have to make some decisions.

First thing we'd probably do is visit my mom. I see her every week outside when I drop off her groceries but I haven't been within several feet of her for weeks.

I definitely miss eating out. My wife and I enjoy fine dining. We've been doing takeout a couple of times a week to help support the local places but we're ordering from pizza places and sandwich shops, not the nice restaurants. I look forward to being able to book a table at an actual chef-owned/operated restaurant and have a gourmet meal.

For sure. How did I not think of that? I can't wait to do an actual workout.

Gym (but I expect them to be one of the last to open). One night I went to Popeyes drive thru to just to change it up from cooking. Earlier today I went to Menards as I built a little bike stand out of pipes. I found I've been going out just to drive for a little bit.

I don't know about myself, but my boys are dying to finally be allowed to go play with their friends in the neighborhood. Frankly, I don't personally care too much, but out of respect for the neighbors, I keep my boys from running over there to play. It was a little sad today when my 4y/o son told me "Preston & Carter (his friends) don't like us anymore, they don't want to play with us." ...... How on earth do you explain a pandemic and social distancing to a 4y/o?!?

Funny comment on not wanting to cook anymore... I'm LOVING the fact that I've got all the time in the world to cook dinner basically every night (gratefully my cooking is quite good, if I may). But my wife loves the simplicity of eating out, and a few days ago almost went to tears insisting that she wanted to get some take-away from SOMEWHERE.... The conversation went something like this:
Me: DW: Me:DW: Me: DW: Me: ..... DW:

(whole conversation in emoji? .... man, the lockdown really does need to end.....)

In the end, we've agreed upon scheduling us for dinner out a few times a month vs. a packed calendar of me cooking every night.

probably go drinking with friends at a bar. maybe go to a funeral for an old coworker if they're going to delay services until this is all over.

I want to go to our local nursery and buy some stone so I can tear up a weed section and cover it in stone. Ive been wanting to do that project for over a month since im working at home, but the nursery is closed!

I would like to get back to the gym. I also want to go see my son who is in the Air Force and stationed in VA. Havent' seen him in awhile. We don't eat out much so no real urgency on that.

We need to see our families. It's been too long (Last july, and november, respectively). We also know we need to be very careful as this *isn't* over even though "the ban" will be lifted. Our parents are much older and could be high-risk.

DH and I have been heads-down working at home straight for the last 5 weeks and we're just about burned out. We need something other than our own cooking and seeing the inside of our house. And before that, we were holed up all winter because, Minnesota.

Plans could vary wildly. If things start coming online strongly and job opportunities present themselves and the housing market holds, I think we're outta here and that will consume the summer.

But I think first a vacation is in order even if it's just a week or two doing some camping and RV'ing. Feels relatively safe.

I don't mind eating at home. DH is a good cook and I prefer his cooking to that of restaurants. We have done a couple of "to go" meals from a German restaurant and Chinese restaurant in an effort to support local businesses.

What I most want to do is go to Disney _____ (land paris, land and/or world) because I think that would be a sign that things are back to normal.

I was thinking that too. Just a long weekend (I have a 3-day weekend every other week) to change our scenery and get out and about, have a few good meals, maybe do a little shopping or visit a casino or something.
