That's how it's calculated in my state. So to get $790/week you need to make $7000/month for 6 months. So how many people are making $7000/month will get $3000/month. But if you make less or $10,500/3 months then you get $400/week so it's about 50% of what you would be making. And if you make way more than $7k/month like my neighbors think more like double then $3k/month isn't close to the same. Even $2400/month extra isn't. It's good for people make less though and it should be.

But the economic recovery is supposed to be a V and we are supposed to immediately just go back to work.

Weird, your calculation is way different.

that's why it's hard to judge how much unemployment people really get.

Nah, UBI would go to everyone. Sorta* like the stimulus payment they're planning! lol

*yes, I know the stimulus payment is limited by income. Jokes!

Andrew Yang really put UBI on the radar. I think the COVID situation is keeping it there. I suspect we haven't heard the last of that concept.

Where are you located? I'm curious how your state calculates it.

Getting back to the original topic, Boeing has now announced they are ceasing all jet assembly operations. Employees at the closed plants will be paid for 10 work days. After that they can either use PTO or go on unemployment. Not only does this affect Boeing workers but thousands of others who work for companies that supply Boeing with parts and equipment needed so there is a big ripple effect from these closures.
