I understand your underlying point, but some of what you said isn't quite correct.

Governments - state and local - ARE shutting down businesses.

I may have been a little myoptic to what I am seeing locally. I wasn't aware of malls being closed down.

California's decision to issue a mandatory stay home order seems over the top. We will see if the rest of the nation will follow or not.

Numerous states have ordered all non-life-essential businesses closed. The shelter at home orders will start showing up in the next few days.

If the only people making decisions were the business owners, we'd be in far deeper trouble than we already are.

LOL...."they" should ask for input from business owners before make broad sweeping restrictions....supply chain issues, rest stops for truckers, etc.
