  • Working from home, or still going to the gym?

Who's all able to work from home in their field? My employer finally officially emailed everyone saying work from home is highly recommended (not mandatory). My area is in storage support, and the majority of peers (99%) are already working remotely. I'm still coming into the office, as the building has less than 10 of us total. All spread out in a large facility. My management is fine with it since I'm in the only one on my team actually there.

Also, is anyone still going to the gym? I still go in the morning at LA Fitness, and see maybe 20 - 30 people max at a time, including staff.

Can't work from home. Kind of tough to do urgent care medicine that way. However, they are in the process of testing out a telemedicine set up which I think is just going to be used for triaging patients, so I might be doing that at some point. That would be in addition to my regular hours though.

Our gym closed a few days ago and all gyms in the state are closing after today as part of the emergency declaration. I'm in NJ. NY and CT and I think PA have done the same.

I'm wondering when MN will do the same.

I'm just back from 7mo away from home, so my boss is giving me the next 10 days off. At that point, I'll be going back to work. I fly for the military, so working from home isn't much of an option.

My wife is still going to the gym, but I'm not one for gyms, and mostly just run outside. Anchorage had closed all of their gyms (excluding ours on base) effective this evening.

I already work from home so no change here. I'm in the SF Bay Area and we are sheltering in place so non essential places are closed - no gyms.

I start working from home on Wednesday. Cancelled 24 Hour Fitness ($38/month) all club access except Super Sports gyms. I jog around my neighborhood and have some weights at home which I rarely used but with home isolation now I will dust off weights to use.

my gym closed. so I can't do that anymore. Push ups and sit ups at home for now.
most of my coworkers are working from home at this point.
i have to be in the building, so i still report to work

The gym at my work is closed for the next 2 weeks. Im lucky though, I have a garage dedicated to gym equipment...so i can work out at home. But, you can get a good workout with push ups, pull ups, body weight squats. You really do not need much equipment if any.

We have a treadmill at work with docking station and dual monitors. Max speed 2 mph, but I'm using it now. Goal is 1hr per work day for steps just to be active. Gotta say its pretty convenient. Roommate also has an elliptical and wide set of dumb bells to use at home.

That's odd. What's the point of a treadmill that can only go 2 mph? I walk faster than that normally.

Minnesota is a little slow on the uptake. Schools just announced closures and our local district isn't closing until tomorrow. My employer is now allowing any staff who can WFH, the ability to WFH for the foreseeable future. Surprisingly, the governor announced closure of restaurants/bars as of yesterday, with businesses mandated to close this afternoon. I actually don't think gyms here are closed yet.

More lunchtime walks for me. No commute = maybe adding in a second walk per day. I know the dog will really appreciate it.

                            History will judge the complicit.

I think that's more of a liability for possibly injury while multi tasking and moving faster. We also have a small dedicated gym in the building literally across the street. Keep in mind this treadmill has mostly engineers, support, and management using it. If I'm sitting for awhile, I'll grab my laptop and walk for another hour on it, getting 5500-6000 steps in. While I still go to a dedicated gym for lifting/running during my lunch (or did).
