  • When creating a new account does anyone use FB, Twitter, Amazon, Google, etc.

I am planning to create a new UPS account for shipping and I have the option of using Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, etc. Does anyone use their existing Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, etc. What are the advantages/disadvantages of doing so. I'm leaning towards creating the new UPS account the old-fashioned way inputting my information into the fields the slow way and not fast tracking it with Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, etc.

I do sometimes log in to other sites via my Facebook account. Honestly, I'm not sure if it's better, worse, or doesn't really matter. Obviously, it shares some sort of data with Facebook, but I figure FB knows pretty much everything about me already anyway. I suspect it has something to do with the advertising algorithms. I don't really care. I'm never, ever going to click on or respond to a FB ad anyway so I'm okay with that.

If you login to a site via another platform, your basically hand over your activity on the site to whatever platform you used.

It's probably not quite as sinister as that, but that's the way I look at it... In short, no -- I never do that. Most sites get my "spam email address" that's specifically setup with fake name & information, and I rarely ever gets logged into.

I generally don't log on with other accounts, but admit sometimes when I'm in a hurry, and don't want to get my password book to see what it is for that site, I do.

I'm pretty sure it says you are sharing your email and friends lists or profile with whatever site you are logging on to.

Out of those names, I only have Amazon/gmail. Otherwise I associate my original hotmail account for any orders/solicitors to filter from personal email. I'm pretty sure the main advantage is simplicity for registering the account to another, than filling out all the new fields for new account. Secondary is probably to collect more information on you between both companies/service for marketing purposes.

No. And I never reuse or share passwords between sites either. While it's possible to gather a lot of information about someone online, it's a whole different world if you're willingly giving it to them.
