Do you think it's early retirement if you stop working and have a working partner or spouse? I don't. But I'm curious how the board views it. My thought is if you are still under employer health care then definitely not. Just because one person chooses to stay at home does it really make it early retirement?

Absolutely. Retirement is an individual thing. If I retire, I'm retired. It doesn't matter if my spouse is still working or not.Steve
* Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
* Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
* There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

Yep, what Disneysteve said. I have been retired for several years-- I don't have to report to work anymore.(We are both on my health insurance and dental insurance.) And, when I'm asked what my occupation is on a form, I put--retired.

To L2P's comment, what would you say when someone asks what you do for a living? Wouldn't you say you are retired? You no longer have an occupation.Steve

Retirement is what you make it. If you want to say you're retired, do it. If you'd prefer to say that you've "stopped working," but shy away from calling it retirement, sure. The label doesn't matter. What are you doing? Do something, or nothing, or whatever you choose. That's what matters.
