I own a soiled nazi banner from Berlin in WW2. It certainly isn’t valuable monetarily, but it is a reminder to me of the 20 million lives lost during those awful years. My kids have taken it to school many times in their history classes and I think it makes the war real to the kids.

A small wood shelf that my great-grandfather made. He carved curves in to the wood and assembled the pieces with his own two hands.
A close second is the wool jacket that my grandmother made … and she started by weaving the fabric before cutting out the pieces and then hand-sewing those pieces together.
One of a kind pieces. No one else in the world can own them.

That's a tough question. The first thing that comes to mind for coolest is probably my AR-15 I pieced together. More sentimental item would be the gold pocket watch (Walther?) of my great-grandfather's, which my mom had restored and gave to me years ago.

This one tough question. I would probably have to say a pocket watch that my parents gave me. It is vintage, has angels on the face, and is just lovely. I don't think it is worth a ton, but it is a treasure for me.

I don't own a lot of cool stuff, and certainly not a lot of valuable things, but I'd answer without question my 1986 winnebago chieftain I snagged on Craigslist running for $1000. I've put maybe $3,500 into renovating it and mechanical repairs. Summer project this year is to get the water and heat/cooling system running so I can start airbnb'ing it for extra cash. It's the one thing I own I can think of that I'm excited to tell people about. Her name is Luann

I love using this as a slow cooker. It does such a nice job--light years better than the 30+ year old crock pot we used to use ('til it stopped working).

Although it could be argued that you never actually own it, by far our land is our coolest thing.
Not only does it produce income, but it also provides tons of recreation opportunity and pleasure for myself and others and will be a great thing to pass on to heirs.

Don't tell the government, and let's not worry about how I came to possess it... But I'm a nerd, and one of the coolest things I own is a nearly perfect teardrop of authentic Trinitite (plus a couple of other samples), slightly larger than a quarter.

I'm not materalistic but i think the coolest thing that I have ever received and still has (if we can include it here) is my junior australia day award, got it when I was 15 it was such an honor to get as you are picked from a lot of people, also got one from the US forces at the same age for over 5000 hours of volunteer service...not bad considering I live in australia

We own three farms. Started out in 1990 and we bought 100 acres that has been in the family for over 100 years. Since then we've added another 60 adjoining acres to it in several purchases. Only about 15 acres of this ground is tillable farm land, the balance is in woodlands, and wildlife habitat much of which I've planted. Have planted over 40,000 trees and 60 acres of native prairie grasses and misc. habitat. Also dug two fish ponds and there are a couple marshes.

Down the road about a mile we picked up another 70 acres. 35 Acres is tillable farmland and the balance is woodlands a small stream and marsh.

Also have 132 acres in southern Illinois, 62 acres of which is farm ground. The remainder is woodlands and wildlife habitat and there are three fish ponds and a stream though this place. Also have a nice cabin there as we spend a lot of time there hunting and fishing.
It's a great getaway five hours from home with no cell service, no close neighbors, no cable TV, etc.

Was always self employed with a couple partners and invested in the 401k towards retirement, but I've never been 100% crazy about betting everything on the stock market, counting on others to invest my money and get me a return. Farm ground is a good way to preserve cash, it can always be sold pretty easily, it generally increases in value, it kicks off some annual income, taxes are low, and annual upkeep expenses can be very minimal. I'm an avid outdoorsman so that is a big plus too, we hunt; deer, turkey, rabbits, squirrel and waterfowl which are all good eating, also pick mushrooms and berries and harvest firewood to supplement heating.

When you live on a farm, you never get bored, as there are always projects that need to be taken care of, work to be done. I really enjoy the physical labor and playing around on machinery, it's relaxing compared to running a business and dealing with all of the people problems, etc.

I've been thinking about this question since you posted it. I haven't walked through the house to see if anything struck me. A couple of things come to mind.

We have 2 original pieces of Disney art, one animation cel from a Disney TV show we loved and one large sketch by an animator that we won at a convention and the animator personalized it to my wife.

Another thing I thought of is I have a box of all of the letters and telegrams my father sent to his family when he was in the Army during WWII. I've actually only read a few of them. Some day I need to sit down and go through them all.

I have a lot of other neat Disney collectibles dating back to a 1930s ashtray from Three Little Pigs.

Kind of a sad statement I suppose but a lot of the coolest items I have are probably packed up in the garage as that's where most of my old stuff that I've had since childhood is. Not much of it is on display in the house currently. As I've been working to clean out the garage the past couple of years, I've come across quite a few things I hadn't seen in decades. I'm hoping that with the next round of cleaning this spring and summer, I'll unearth some more treasures that I can bring in and enjoy having around.
