  • Car sharing

    Hi everyone,
I recently downloaded a new free app, NoTaxi, on Apple store.

They offer a car sharing service without any commission or fee and you can also ask for a ride for free: it seems a great way to save money, especially while travelling.

It would be really convenient for me, but I'm afraid it's a scam. Is anyone using it?

And also, I wonder: if it is free, how do they monetize from it? Do you think it's safe?

    Thanks in advance!

    Regards,
    Lucrezia

    Sounds like a scam.

The app probably doesn't guarantee that whomever gives you a ride carries even the minimum insurance required, nor does it guarantee the safety or maintenance standards of the vehicle you are riding around in, and there's no saying that your driver is even qualified (or is good at) driving. For those reasons I'd pass.

For that matter, I also don't download many apps, nor do I let them track my location or give them information about myself. I'm really tired of being 'the product' --so that's probably how they make money from it. Ads, or mining information about you from your phone, or travel habits.
    History will judge the complicit.
