Living in Alaska, we have a similar, probably exaggerated situation. Regardless of DST, we have tons of daylight all summer (sunrise 4am, sunset 11pm). Of course, in the winter it's just the opposite, and no amount of wishful clock adjusting can change the fact that it's dark except for a few hours in the afternoon (10am-3pm?).

Everybody is affected by time change, some more than others. It always takes some time to adjust. There is a lot of data on decreased productivity, higher auto accident rates, and other such issues caused by the artificial "jet lag" induced by changing the clocks. There's also data showing that it doesn't save energy, as they thought it would. It really serves absolutely no purpose.

My routine got derailed and I ended up getting constipation, true story. I’ll just leave it at that.

          No.

Noon is when the Sun is due South (for us North of the equator).

i will assume the data is real but other then a few people either too that at one point or other have been late or early to something.

I have never seen this an effect in anyone i know.
I saw a co-worker who thought they were late getting back from lunch as the clock in one break room was skipped by facilities when they changed them. that was fun for 30 second until they looked at phone and saw the real time.

Honestly i feel many people "experience" things based on SUGGESTION .... like a jet lag type feeling or sleep issues.

As for decreased productivity the only thing i can imagine is the people who have to share multiple "one time at band camp " stories .......... Like " one time i forgot to change clocks and i was late and .....".

We ( my office) have these everyday decreased productivity times over weather events , traffic, sports, new movies coming out, or perhaps have you seen this on netflix type conversations.
I think too many people have few people to talk to in person except at work.

Are you saying jet lag isn't real, or do you specifically mean it only in regards to the time changes?

Certainly, the greater the time change, and if it's forward or backward, the greater the effect on your body. Circadian rhythm isn't a fantasy. It actually does exist. Resetting the clock on your end table is one thing. Resetting your body's clock is entirely different and more difficult.

Was I affected by the time change on Sunday? Yes. Why? Because instead of waking up at 6:30am like usual, I was up at what had become 5:30am due to turning the clocks back. I slept the same amount as usual but I was up an hour earlier. As the day went on, I certainly felt the effects of that and was tired earlier (based on the clock time) because my body doesn't care what the clock says. On Monday, I was exhausted. Fortunately I was off. It wasn't until yesterday, Tuesday, that I felt back to normal - and that's about typical for how long it usually takes me to adjust.

I don't get it either. Hawaii and no DST. No idea when friends were chattering about it and I had just moved. Annoying as hell.

I am talking specifically about the 1 hour time change. People on a set routine may be a bit off

Longer amounts of time yes some may feel some lag but some people seem to have no problem changing up things regularly ....without said lag.
I have seen a person act as if this one hour will take then weeks to get over yet i have also seen someone recently travel half way around the world and not miss a beat.
Some people seem to flawlessly adjust and some can't ? perhaps it is a bit of mind over matter.

You may be right that having a set routine is part of the issue. I keep to a pretty regular schedule as far as when I go to sleep and wake up. It's also certainly true that everyone is different. Just as I can go on any amusement ride in existence and be fine, others get motion sick just looking at a roller coaster. Everybody's tolerance level for things is different.

There are lots of issues and things that aren't working. Apparently there was some virus attack on the site and they are still working on fixing it.

I was going to start a new thread but as bj wrote the "new thread" link is not working so I'll post here. Today is Frontier Airline's last day for 99% off. Even with their nickel & diming 99% off might be a good deal for someone. Unfortunately for me Frontier doesn't fly out of Los Angeles. https://www.flyfrontier.com/
