I'm continuing going through my budget and I think I've reached the point where it might be time to cut the cord and stop paying for cable TV. I really like sports and watching them on the weekends saves me some money because I don't go out and do other things, but $75 a month is ridiculous. How much do you pay for cable TV?

I haven't had cable TV for 6 or 7 years.
Antennaweb.org will tell you what channels are broadcast over the air, if you want to try out an antenna. If you are a little crafty, you can make your own antenna for a couple bucks with a piece of wire.

Also, if you are'renting' a modem, consist just buying one to get that of the bill.

We don't have cable either. Just Netflix and Amazon.
Cable company just did an "upgrade" in our area and my old 20 Megabit internet connection doubled or tripled in speed. Of course the price was going up $10 too. I called and told them I don't need that much internet speed so they lowered it back down along with my price from $54 to $34. This is a absolutely great! All it took was a phone call to get the same service for $20 less.
I think that the cable company was hoping that people would just be happy about a speed increase even if they didn't really need it. 20 Megabits per second is more than enough to stream HD from Netflix/Amazon and also do web surfing on a computer at the same time.
