So what do you do when you find a face down penny? do you pick it up, leave it there, or turn it over for the next person? Humor me, I'm bored tonight..
When I find money on the ground, I pick it up. Doesn't matter if it's a penny, nickel, dime, or dollar bill.

* Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
* There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

I think the point is that it's face down, not that it's a penny. Picking up a face down penny is supposed to be bad luck. I think the OP is asking about superstition, not denomination.
My dad brags about finding money on the ground more often than most. I asked him how he does it and he says, "I look down."
Alarmingly profound: you're not likely to see money on the ground unless you're looking down. True for so many other things in life, you're not likely to find something if you are not looking in the right places.
Back to the penny, I pick up most change, unless it is in a puddle of slushy or nasty water.

I understood the question. My point was that I'm going to pick up any money I find on the ground. I don't care what denomination, face up, face down, or standing on edge. Free money is free money. So no, I don't believe in superstition.

I like to go by the old rhyme, "Find a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck." The rhyme doesn't mention heads down pennies being unlucky, so I don't think they are. Any day where I end up with extra money for minimal effort is a lucky day in my book.
I pick up any coins, face up or down. Just today I found a penny in my basement and a nickel in a parking lot. No idea if they were heads up or down, didn't even look that close.
I would always pick it up. Free money beats superstition in my book. And I figure if I do this my whole life long, I will end up slightly richer in the end.
I wish I could post pictures on this site. I started saving my pennies when I was 20 or so and now at age 55 I finally cashed them in. I wanted to buy a pair of Bose noise canceling headphones for just under $400. but I couldn't justify spending that kind of money on them.
I figured all these pennies had no real value to me so I loaded them up and spent an hour feeding them into the CoinStar machine. All 40,000 of them!
