Look at this photo of some high school kids in Whittier CA demonstrating. Notice the flags in the upper left corner of the photo. The American flag is being flown below the Mexican flag, and it's upside down.

Disrespecting your host country (and it's flag) is no way to make a point...two steps back for their cause in my book....

My first instinct was that the picture is a hoax, but unfortunately it's not.

If they hate the US and love their country so much, why won't they go back? I am an immigrant myself, but I love being here and I don't want to go back. I want all of them to be legal. Its unfair to the others. I had to go thru naturalization process and I am a citizen now, but it costed me lots of money and headache to get there.

Why should people who break the law get any kind of advantage over people like getforfree who go through the legal processes, hassle though it may be, toward legal citizenship?

                    Re: This is not right

Two of my grandparents were immigrants from Germany and Ireland, and on my mother's side, my great grandparents immigrated here from Poland and Russia.

When World War II broke out, FBI agents showed up at the door of my grandfather's home to question him, simply because he was German and had a German last name. He was just a hard-working man, as were all my grandparents, pumping gas and repairing cars at a a little gas station he owned in rural New Jersey. All I remember is that I loved him very much, he always had dirt under his fingernails and to this day the smell of gasoline at a service station brings me back to that little Esso station on Rt. 202 that sold gas for .29 a gallon.

But back to my point, he never sued anyone, never claimed he was racially profiled and never demonstrated in the streets demanding his 'rights.'

But when the American system allows illegal immigrants to enroll their children in the public schools, and to treat them at a hospital when they get sick, is it any wonder that illegals have a sense of entitlement? There's something wrong with this picture!

                            Re: This is not right

I don't have any problem with people wanting to come to America to work for a better life. That's what our founding forefathers did.

I do have a problem with people who don't want to have to follow the policies set to gain citizenship. If you want to be an American citizen so badly, do it the right way!

Also, I don't mind if you're proud of your heritage. It is important to remember your past and your family. But if you want all these things, your alliegience should be to America, not Mexico. If you want this to be your home, why do you fly the Mexican flag?
