  • Tip if you maintain your own car (battery)

My truck needed a new battery, and since it isn't my daily driver, it sat in my driveway for months as I tried to justify spending $110+ on a new group 27 battery. As luck would have it, a friend suggested I look into a "blem" or "reman" battery (they either don't have labels, or were refurbished at the factory). A call to a chain that specializes in batteries, and I found one for $45 after exchange.

So my advice is: When it comes time to replace your battery, look into one of these instead of spending a lot on a new one. They're just as good, and can save you a lot of money.

Advance auto usually has $50 off $100 purchase...or at the very least, $40 off $100 coupon. I elect to buy batteries new since I can save $50 off the top.

i bought a car a few months back that appeared to have a pretty new battery in it but it failed a few weeks back. i put a charge on it and got stranded out and about, bought a die hard on a friends recommendation and ride to sears that set me back $120, his theory is die hards are hard to die.

im usually a budget shopper trying to buy the cheapest possible on everything, my last batteries came from walmart and oreilly and seem to have held up ok, probably wont be taking his recommendations any more

best battery value are the wal-mart everstart....no joke. They are a high end battery that has the wal-mart label and a pro-rated warranty.

Most batteries are identical except for the name or warranty rating. At one of my jobs we had a battery company sell us a bunch of batteries at once. Depending on how much we wanted to pay was what sticker he put on the blank battery before he brought them into the shop....only difference was the warranty.
