401K hit a milestone today

I just checked my 401K balance this morning. It rolled over to just over $100,000 today.

I started it back in May of 2003. I started out putting away 7%, and for the past 7 years have been putting away 10%.

My company matched dollar for dollar on the first 3% of contributions.

I plan to keep it at 10% for now.

I have a Roth IRA and a taxable brokerage account that I contribute to monthly. I like the level of control that I have in those accounts as opposed to the limited offerings in my 401K.

It just shows that investing even a small amount on a regular basis adds up over time....and that is even with a huge stock market crash mixed in! Ignore the short-term, focus on the long-term.

Congratulations! I'm getting close to the same milestone in my Roth IRA. Maybe tomorrow if the market is up? I'm less than $300 away.

Congrats! That is a very good milestone to hit, indeed.

I'm not quite as far along as you, but I'm socking away 15% including match and the balance is steadily climbing. In another year, I should be right about where you are at. I've noticed as a 6-figure retirement account nears, the excitement increases exponentially. I remember back when I was contributing on-and-off and had a $15k balance, I never thought it would amount to anything.

Best advice received to date: Keep saving!

Congrats! I hope to be there some day too. Maybe next year I will probably hit it, also will depend on the market too. Hopefully it will still go up, but I will have to wait and find out.
