I would lean toward taking Job B - spending 40+ hours of each week miserable is a lousy way to go through life.

However, without having specific information on your budget, savings rate, and goals, I can't make a recommendation.

Wouldn't think twice about it. Kind of that question of how much money is enough and at what cost is the higher income? Why earn more if it doesn't make you happy? Even though your partner is in a high stress job, I think you being in a position to take over more of the homemaking tasks can make things less stressful for both of you. We were a 2 income household for a long time and it got to where grocery shopping was stressful because there was never time. When my DH made the decision to stay home, the stress factor went way down. Would I have loved to pay off our house early and max our Roth IRAs? Sure, but I wouldn't trade it for the time him being home allowed us to spend more meaningfully.

That's just it. Grocery shopping is a good example, even if minor. It becomes a source of stress/drudgery on its own, and contributes to the disintegrating nature of job stress. Not having groceries in the house and not having energy to cook proper meals means unhealthier eating, and another hole in the budget caused by more frequent eating out. Rinse, repeat goes the vicious cycle.

I think "onward" is the mantra here. My job searches are running, and so far I've only identified a single job that I'd "like" to do. The other thing I know about job searches is they take time. Something is bound to come up, right?
        History will judge the complicit.

Can you return to Job A if Job B doesn't meet your expectations?
