  • Gas Cards: Has anyone purchased one?

Hi, I am thinking of purchasing a gas card, but the information I have found on the internet is a little daunting. Has anyone purchased one? Are they really a deal? How do they work exactly? And any suggestions on where to get the best deals on them?

Thank you for your help in advance!

i am not sure what you are talking about?

Do you mean a pre paid gas card?

Be careful I used to work for a large gas company and while we would sell them in our corporate owned stores we would not honor them. They had to be used at one of the non coporate owned stations, used only at the franchises. Get a list of where they can be used and do not believe the attendant that they say they can be used everywhere because not all of them will be honored. Check at the big website and then call the individual stations to make sure.

Yes, was asking about prepaid gas cards. I was told that they would help save on rising gas costs. But what you have described is what I have encountered in my research online. Thank you.

Hmm...this isn't that bad of an idea. I'm going to be spending BUNCHES of money on gas commuting to school this summer. I think I'm going to do some research on this. Maybe I'll be able to save some money.

I don't think that I would do that only because like meltmove stated earlier you have to be carefull as to where you can use them. And at the rate that gas keeps going up...seems like every hour how could you save when it is your own money anyway

Without sounding like a total conspiracy theorist, I have noticed that more and more gas stations are installing ethanol pumps. While I am all for this for the sake of the environment, the switch-over to corn-based fuels is highly corporate. The idea, it seems, is to install more ethanol pumps, keep only a few gasoline pumps, force people to buy ethanol cars, and hike up the gasoline prices. This will only make life very difficult for the middle class, who cannot afford the gas prices or the new cars. I suppose I am seeing this shift, getting a little nervous about its financial impact in the near future, and looking for a way to prepare so to speak.

Any other suggestions, research, comments, out there?

            Thank you.
