I bought something the other day on amazon. The seller was amazon, so it was bought/shipped by amazon. UPS claimed the package was delivered, signed by someone, etc etc. Of course the package never made it to my location.
I filed a claim through ups...they basically told me to contact the seller...which doesnt make sense to me. Either way...I spoke to amazon about it...was on the phone with them for no more than 5 minutes...they're shipping me another of the same item for free. Ive never had to call and deal with amazon before but I was really impressed.
I thought about ditching my prime membership in July when it runs out but I may renew it just because of their customer service and peace of mind.
Note: the item was $40. Im guessing for higher end/more expensive things there may be a different process.
