Another reason to use amazon.com

I bought something the other day on amazon. The seller was amazon, so it was bought/shipped by amazon. UPS claimed the package was delivered, signed by someone, etc etc. Of course the package never made it to my location.

I filed a claim through ups...they basically told me to contact the seller...which doesnt make sense to me. Either way...I spoke to amazon about it...was on the phone with them for no more than 5 minutes...they're shipping me another of the same item for free. Ive never had to call and deal with amazon before but I was really impressed.

I thought about ditching my prime membership in July when it runs out but I may renew it just because of their customer service and peace of mind.

Note: the item was $40. Im guessing for higher end/more expensive things there may be a different process.

same thing happened to me, excellent customer service. its the first place i look when i shop, the review system is great for the consumer

Same with me. They always make it right if I have issues. I have been prime since they introduced it and I get my money's worth.

I will offer the standard advice to price shop. Amazon sometimes charges way more for stuff than you can get from other places. Including direct from the vendor.

I've had very good experiences as well. A few years ago we got DD a handheld electronic game for Christmas. It failed right before the end of the Christmas return period, so I contacted Amazon first just in case. They over-nighted a new one and took back the old one, without me asking for any such favors. Have had similar experiences since then. Hope they continue on with that as part of their business model.
