Insurance: I hope I read it wrong...do you get life insurance as an employment benefit? As a husband and soon to be a father you absolutely must carry life insurance to protect your family. I add my voice to the others asking you to review your auto insurance. You need to know the KBB value of your autos and fully understand insurance coverage. They only give something NEAR replacement value and prefer to write-off cars...not repair damage.
Is your wife entitled to any maternity benefits from her Unemployment Insurance program? If family offer gifts can you ask for practical stuff like diapers, formula, and onesies? Please don't buy all the stuff on those lists for baby. Check Kijjiji/CraigsList, yard sales because baby outgrows everything faster than you imagine.
If wife plans to return to work, she needs to start making arrangements now for flexible child care next October or her target date.
