  • Where/when to buy a flight to Caribbean?

I am searching for a flight in the middle of May to the Caribbean. How do I know what price point I should be looking for? Is there any way to find out what a flight to the same airport cost last year? I am flying from north eastern USA but can travle to a few different airports if needed.
Any help with a cheap flight would be great thanx

No idea, since you don't mention which airport you'd be flying from. I can say that American and Virgin are known to have good route frequency tot he Caribbean, so that would be one way to look.

Secondly, if you know where you're going, look up the airport code and go to that airport's website - they'll tell you which airlines fly there. You can then join those airlines' email alert programs. New fares are typically announced on Tuesdays.

Also, just in case you haven't seen these:

Hipmunk.com -- will follow all the airlines for a specified time of travel and email you with alerts when there are price drops, etc.

A friend also recommends momondo.com - might be worth a look.

      Flight Deals

I'm drawing a blank on the names right now, but there are several with different pros and cons that you can sign up for free with and put in your parameters and they will alert you when a discount or deal comes out.

      Good luck!

There are a plethora of online travel agencies like Travelocity, Priceline, Last Minute Travel. There are charter airlines that specialize in specific resorts/airports. You newspaper likely has a Travel section you can review on-line. I recommend you reverse your procedure, 1st decide on a budget, how much do you expect to pay for your holiday? 2nd decide where exactly you want to go to see and do your favourite holiday festivals/events. Online sites let you compare prices. There are different rates depending on what day you travel even what type/size of plane. Prices include airport taxes and a long list of items so be sure you are comparing with the same list of fees/charges/taxes whatever they call them!

As noted, there are plenty of online sources like travelocity, expedia, kayak, and others.

I'm curious why you want to know what the flight would have cost a year ago. That has no bearing on what it will cost this year.
