1) Oil is already over $71 a barrell. 2) Hurricane season hasn't started yet. 3) Hurricane season is expected to rival last year (only concentrate itself on the east coast instead of the Gulf Coast . . .we'll see) 4) Gas is $2.80ish now and summer driving season hasn't really started yet. Conclusion: There will be sometime this summer when gas hits at least $4 and quite possibly $5.
I'm betting all grades of gas will be over $3 today or tomorrow, the way the prices have been increasing this week. 87 and 91 are both over $3/gallon already.
Ours is in the 2.90 range (as of yesterday)...........I'll bet it goes to 3$ either today or tomorrow.
I have made quite a few adjustments here re; gas prices....even though I didn't drive much to begin with. Hoping to keep the actual money spent around the same each month, just being smarter re; the number of trips and how I'm driving.
I haven't noticed anyone else that I know of changing habits yet. Boggles my mind that they just complain and then don't make any adjustments. I would think almost everyone would be able to do something........(other than just complain)
We were at $2.89 by my house this morning on my way to work. Then over by work (which is only like 10 miles away) it is $2.79. So, I filled up for $2.79.
I calculated this morning how much gas is going to cost me to commute to school (50 miles one way) during the summer. And I came up with $10/day. However, that is still MUCH cheaper than living on campus. I live at home right now and don't have to pay rent.
Eisor,
Believe me I agree with you, I too live at home which is much cheaper and tuition is going up in the fall, I drive about 40 miles each way and now I am worried because these gas prices are outrageous
I filled up for $2.93 yesterday. I have been trying to think of ways to save, but when you live in a rural area with no public transportation, it's hard. Even if I could find someone at work to carpool with (which I can't, because no one lives near me), I still could not work out the hours since I am a part-timer and most of the other employees are not. At least I can take DH's car instead of the minivan when he doesn't need it...saves a little.
