  • A good customer service story

We hear so many rants and complaints about bad service. I like to share good stories when they happen.

We had a layover at San Francisco International on Sunday. My wife went to Boudin's to get food to take on the plane. She ordered and paid for a sandwich combo meal (included chips and a cookie). On the plane, she discovered that she only had a sandwich - no chips, no cookie). It wasn't a huge deal except she had paid for the combo.

I went to Boudin's website today and filled out the contact form explaining what had happened and requesting a refund of the overpayment. Within a few hours, I got a response from the regional manager apologizing and offering to send a refund.

That's the way things should work. So if you're in the San Fran area, be sure to patronize Boudin's. They do have great sourdough bread.

    * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
    * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
    * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

I've been through SFO & know exactly the restaurant you're talking about... That place is excellent! I actually had lunch there, then bought an additional loaf of their sourdough for the flight to snack on (I enjoy just snacking on good, quality bread... nom nom nom)

Sounds familiar. We also bought a loaf of sourdough. I think DD ate most of it in flight.

            Disneysteve,
It sounds like a great trip otherwise. Did you go to San Diego? (What's not to love about that?!)

Yes, we were in San Diego for a conference. It was our first time visiting SD and we loved it. We stayed in the Gaslamp district. DD stayed at the Hyatt at the marina with the youth group. We didn't have a whole lot of free time but we did get to wander the Gaslamp area and the waterfront and Seaport Village. It was really beautiful. I could easily live out there.

Certainly was last week. We left in a snow storm and it snowed the day after we got back.

To finish the story, today we received a handwritten and hand addressed letter from the general manager of Boudin's. He apologized for the mistake. He included a full refund of $12, not just the difference between what we got and what we paid. He also included a $10 gift card with a note saying he hopes we'll give them another chance the next time we are in town. So for about a $4 mistake, he sent a $22 refund. Again, great customer service.
