  • DD accepted to college today!!

Just wanted to share as many of you have followed along the process. DD got her first college acceptance today. It is not her #1 school but is probably her #2. She has an interview with her #1 school next week and will likely get accepted at that time as they do instant decision.

      Congrats to your DD.

I remember back when whe was about 12 and you were planning her Bat Mitzvah.

How are you planning on handling being an empty nester?

Congratulations! It's always exciting and a bit of a relief to get that first acceptance; makes it so real!

          I can't wait.

DW and I were lying in bed talking about it last night. She is looking forward to being able to cook different meals. I'm looking forward to being able to do more spur of the moment types of things. I love my daughter dearly but she is not good with change or last minute decisions.

Yep. She turned 18 a few weeks ago so that Bat Mitzvah was 5 years ago.

                  Congrats to your daughter!

College is an exciting time. Just make sure that she stays away from frat guys like I was.

                    Congrats to her!

Will she be at a school somewhat close to home? That way you can look forward to lots of visits.

All 3 of the schools she is looking at are within 2 hours of home so we will be able to visit easily. She had originally been looking at schools that were 6-7 hours away but then changed her major and also realized she didn't want to be quite that far.

She definitely needs to live away though to spread her wings and become more independent so we will certainly visit but will try to keep it to a minimum to give her space to mature.

It's really neat but some colleges now do on-site interviews at the high schools and offer instant decision. That's why she found out so early. She has an interview with her first choice school on Wednesday. Assuming they accept her, she'll be done and can relax (about that at least). Applying the regular way, she probably wouldn't hear for another month or two.

THat is really neat. I have never heard of that. Fingers crossed for her on Wednesday!!!
I will be relieved when this is done. I can't believe all the mail and calls. DS has his heart set one one certain school.

I hadn't heard of it either. It's neat to get that instant response - assuming it's a "yes".
