I had been looking for some storage shelves to place in my garage and came across something I think will work labeled "free" on the side of the road. It's much better than the $70 I thought I might have to spend. I took it home and that will be my weekend project.

I took a chain saw to my outdoor hot tub and hauled it off to the dump. It cost me $40 total in dump fees, and according to EEinNJ I thus saved $960!

Made lunch at home, even though I wanted to eat out.

A friend asked me to go out to dinner, but I said I wanted to do tea instead (much cheaper).

            {Nope - don't use dryer sheets at all}.

Today I arranged a carpool for child who is going to a new school location 5 miles away. Phew!

In order to save, I always make sure that there's cooked food and left overs can be packed for office so that I won't buy outside anymore. Turn off all electrical appliances that are not in use and unplugged them from the electrical socket. Commute to work instead of taking a cab (walking is a good exercise and good for the heart). Drink water instead of sodas or fruit juices (by doing this, you only not save but also can live healthy). Eliminate buying unnecessary stuff. And by saving all loose change that I have.

              Cheers!

Check prices online before buying something at a retail store.

I called my phone company because there was a mistake on the bill they sent me. I asked if there was a better plan for the way i use the phone and was able to change that saved me $15 a month.

Called cable to discuss my bill which had increased $ 6. I was surprised to learn the increase was for rental of equipment I don't rent! They re-adjusted the line-up and I think I lost a couple of channels we don't watch anyway and lowered internet speed. They've given me a promotional price for three months and all in I've saved $ 20. per month long term and about $ 50. per month for the promo months.

Friday dinner is 'buffet' night here. All leftovers are set out on the counter and everyone chooses what they want. We have fresh dinner rolls and tortillas that work well as 'pizza' base, Chinese style egg rolls or burritos with a leftover chilli base. Tonight I made coleslaw with diced apple to support the weird assortment. Baked apples were on offer for anyone wanting dessert.

I got a set of sheets for my nieces new big girl bed for $2. High quality, pink floral and has a ruffle at the top of the flat sheet. Then I got 3 queen size flat sheets for $1 each. I am using them to make rugs and clothing. Then I got 56% off a roll of batting I needed for a quilt I'm making. I go through scissors like crazy so I didn't pass up getting 4 decent quality scissors for 50cents each. I will be able to.sharpen these on my scissors sharpener. The really cheap scissors don't sharpen well. I got 2 blades for my rotary cutter for $3.47.

The sheets for my niece wwill be part of her Christmas present. Along with some skirts and headbands I'll make from materials I already have.

                        Growing my own food

Today, I shaved off my spending on food by eating vegetables. I usually eat bacon and eggs during breakfast, chicken or steak during the night. The vegetables came from my little backyard garden. Growing your own food is worth it!

You can always save money by eating out less and instead of going to the movies, rent a movie with redbox (or something). You can buy candy, popcorn, and soda all for a cheaper price than the movie theaters!!

                            Today I:

-(I work at Starbucks) so I get free drinks, I made two of my "mark out" drinks 2% milk to take home 2x24oz
                            -I walked to work
-Brought lunch and snacks from home to work
-Played a free game on my computer vs buying one
-Watched TV and cleaned the apartment with my free time

Besides the obvious daily expenses like electric, sewer, and water I didn't take out my wallet today
