Looks like another executive is going down because he lied on his resume. Have you ever "stretched the truth" on your resume?

Nope, but I have had bosses who said "I had you doing that?!" "Yes, you did and you didn't pay me for it, did you?" Then I would go over exactly what I did and they'd agree that that was what I was doing, they just hadn't thought of it that way.

Never about my qualifications, but once I stretched the truth about how long I had worked somewhere (only by a couple months) because I thought the gap between jobs was too large. Those were in my younger and stupider days.

Re: Have you ever fibbed on your resume?
I've given approximate dates of employment on odd jobs going back to the 70's and 80's, but designate it as such on the application or resume accordingly. There is no future in lying on a resume. You will get caught so I would advise never to do it.

However if we lied about it there whats to say we've stopped the delusion and told the truth on this forum

Re: Have you ever fibbed on your resume?
No way. I've certainly put a spin on real experiences to make them more compatible with the job I'm applying for, but I would never actually lie.
I know someone who lied, got the job, and then when they found out he really couldn't do the work he got demoted. Very humiliating but he deserved it.

Re: Have you ever fibbed on your resume?
I've never lied on a resume, but while in college I wanted a part time waitressing job and the only waitressing I had done was in strip clubs. I changed "JB's Gallery of Girls" into "JB's family restuarant" and "Clancy's" (another strip club) into a respectable restuarant. I was then living several states away.

I had the same situation as baselle. I was applying for garden jobs after having a 4 year BS in Agri, and nobody would hire me. I wouldn't get any reasonable job in my field because I was brand new in this country. So I just told them about my HS and got a job real fast !!

Shelby, why would you mention your termination at all on your resume. Just the dates and let it go. If they ask for more clarification in an interview, then be prepared, but the resume is only good things.
