Re: Plans for your income tax refund?

We don't know how much ours is yet. But, we are planning on re-rocking our driveway. We are only doing about 2/3 of it though. If we have enough after that, we plan on re-tiling the kitchen floor. It has the orginal tile on it from when the house was built in the 70's. And, if there is money left after that, we plan on doing a small bit of remodeling (putting the washer and dryer out in the garage and turning the cabinet it is in into a pantry).

Man, we had to pay through the nose this year. I would've been slapped with an underwithholding penalty except that we had it compared to last year's and it was then waived.

My small refund is going straight to my student loans. I generally have withholding set up so that I receive very little back (why loan the government money for a year?). This year I qualified for a saver's credit, so I'll be getting a couple hundred back.

We will receive $1248.00 from the State Of Ny. We will pay back $400.00 that we borrowed from our household account so we could celebrate my birthday last Feb. 15th! After that we will both fund our own checking accounts and put some into savings for our property taxes and house insurance due in the fall.

I've gotten back a 539$ refund. Its going into savings. Its a little unusual for me since I always aim to pay about 100$ or so, but its because I started an IRA.

State and fed combined approximately $400, all to savings. Speaking of EIC (maybe got once years and years ago) this is the first time I'm not eligible for the California $60 Renters credit due to income. First I was bummed, then thought, heck, it's a sign of progress.

We'll be getting about 2K back and will put it towards the mortgage.

Re: Plans for your income tax refund?

Already got my $650 federal refund. $450 of it is in my savings account right now as "emergency" money. The rest I will be using to pay extra on my car payment and credit card payments next month.

I kind of even out on state returns for NY and NJ (I have to pay a little for NJ resident return (less than $30), but get some back for NJ non resident return ($14?)... and same goes for the NY return), but will probably be getting a $75 refund for being a tenant in NJ.

Of course I filed the federal first. I figured the state taxes but haven't filed yet.

I think we'll be getting approximately $1000 back. Hubby is already trying to spend it but I've told him that we're going to put it onto our credit card debt and some into our savings. We may keep $50 out for a bit of mad money but that will be it.
Way too much (long stupid story, don't even get me started) and we're splitting half of it to some medical bills that will be paid off, 10 percent towards helping others and the rest into savings. Although we're not getting back 2x that so that is even more frustrating.
