Re: Where do you buy your shoes at?

Fern, I agree and disagree. I would never have bought those shoes on my own, but he was very convincing that the problems I felt would go away ("they're new, you need to break them in", etc). Yes, I allowed myself to be convinced. He seemed to know what he was doing, he measured my foot several different ways and brought out "the perfect pair".

So, now I stick with self-selecting because I don't want to listen to the sales pitch. Meantime I'm stuck with an $80 pair of shoes that I can wear for about 20 minutes at a time (if I don't have to stand or walk).

Cercis, that should of never happened to you, did the shoe salesman bring out multiple pairs for you to try on? I like to make sure that the shoe fits and feels comfortable, if not we try a different style because all shoes are different. Sorry about your bad experience, if you are ever in Asheville, NC look me up and I will give you a professional fit.

Re: Where do you buy your shoes at?

I buy a lot of shoes (especially dressy ones that I will only wear a few times) at thrift stores. I buy sneakers at Payless or Wal-Mart since I don't need anything fancy (not a runner or anything). I have had some great pairs from Payless that have lasted a long time, despite being only $15 or $20. My last pair of sneakers were brand-name from my SIL because I asked for a new pair for Christmas! She bought me better sneaks than I would ever buy myself.
I have to buy a pair of Dyeables for my brother's wedding in August...the cheapest pair at David's Bridal was $40 and I just could not do it. I am going to check out the Dyeables at Payless, or just hope I can find a pair of sandals in celadon sometime in the next few months. It's a color that I know I will never wear again in my life and I just cannot bring myself to spend $40 on a pair of shoes.

I haven't had good luck with walmart shoes (or much else) so I went back to payless. WE started getting DH shoes there too after he lost some weight. I have several pair of pumps from when I worked outside my home that will last me the rest of my life I think (black, navy and gray). I buy tennis shoes when the last pair wear out (about every 4-5 years) and a pair of sandles just as often. Wehn we moved to the snow zone I invested in a pair of boots, warm lining and tall, low heel. I love them!

I generally pick out my shoes myself. There was one running shoe store I went to though, where they helped me figure out what type of running shoe would best fit my foot, given my foot's width and arch.

Payless for me-when they have their sales where you buy 1 pair and get the 2nd for a penny or a dollar. But, for my children, I sometimes go to the shoe store, just to have them measured and get good shoes--my kids were all born with leg problems, and I don't want to get the wrong shoes and create leg trouble again.

I buy shoes at jcpennies & sears I usually get them on clearance cheap my skechers I am wearing now were $20 the kids skechers were $13 for all 3 of my girls I have only bought shoes at a big discount store once & they killed the kids feet. SO now I stick to skechers for all of us shoes are one thing I cant skimp on well guess I do to a point I buy them on clearance but only the ones that work for us. ANd only buy shoes 2 times a year & I do wash them in the wash machine if they get too dirty. But I have never had anyone measure my feet sometimes they will measure the kids & sometimes they know what they are doing sometimes not.

That is the terrible thing about living in NC, no cute snow boots needed, and they really are so cute!

I like to get my shoes at Payless even though the quality is lower. Especially if I have a coupon, I can buy about 6 pairs of shoes for the same price as 1 at a department store.

Wherever they sell shoes... Thats the simple and most accurate answer. I'm a shoe freak, I love em, the higher the heel the better so wherever I go, and can try them on, I'm inclined to buy what I like. I have quite a shoe collection.

Looks like we're cut from the same cloth! I like high heels as well, and I will buy shoes just about anywhere...Wal-mart, Payless, JC Penney, Dillards, Sears, Shoe Outlet, Shoe Department, Rack Room Shoes, Ross, TJ Maxx, Stein Mart, and other places I can't think of at the moment. However, I do not ever pay full price for a pair of shoes (except at Wal-mart and Payless, since their shoes are cheap anyway). As a matter of fact, one of the Parisian's in my town is closing, and I bought a pair of $70.00 boots for $12.00 and a pair of $80 Bandolinos (sp) brand shoes for $13.00 this weekend. Sweet!

Ooh no, everything I buy is on sale, except my cheapys from wal-mart. But I've spent a pretty penny even on sale shoes at Needless Markup, but I had to have em. Shoes are my weakness.

Since i broke most of the bonesin my right foot and severly injured the tendons and ligaments inthe peace corps in 01, i pay quite a lot for my shoes because of lasting problems. I just bought a new pair for exercising that quite possibly are the most comfortable shoes i have ever owned. And i got great service and the sales man worked with me for over an hour to get a good fit that would work for my isses. I would go back again in an instant.

I know i pay a lot for shoes so i scrimp on other issues and not buy as much in clothing and such.
