  • Do you carefully check your medical claims?

In the last few months alone, I've found numerous errors in medical claims processed for my family. If I weren't paying attention, I could've lost over $500.

I urge everyone to carefully look through the EOB's (explanations of benefits) that you get in the mail and make sure the insurance company is paying you all that you deserve.

Oh yeah, I check them. Last time we went they billed it to the wrong doctor so it came up not covered at all. I had to call the clinic and tell them to bill it to the right doctor (it's a residency clinic so we didn't actually see either of the docs, we saw a resident who is overseen by the docs). That would have been an expensive trip if not for that.

yep, my sons crc was billed as done on me, oddly enough my insurance wouldn't pay to circ me!

Most all medical things have had an error or two (billed for wrong kid, wrong procedure, wrong co pay, ect)

One of my mother's visits to the neurologist was coded as mental health, which is only covered at 50%. Luckily I spotted it on the EOB and called the doctors office. They recoded the visit as medical.

            You're absolutly right about mistakes!

We check carefully. I am waiting for a bill from a doctor that did a test I had refused. He isn't getting paid for that if I have anything to say about it!

Hun, it is no longer considered medically necessary for boys to be circed in the US, so that is why insurance didn't pay. The only reason my CJ's circ was paid for was because he had chronic UTI's that caused febrile seizures...he HAD to get circed!

Some US insurances do pay, and once it went thru on a newborn boy they did. So far all of ours paid, well actually the insurance we had with DD wouldn't have, but then she was a girl
