Re: I hate the free things to do!

I'm finding myself a little bored *only* working 40 hours a week. I'm used to being an undergrad fulltime + working 30 hours, or working 35 hours + babysitting 20+ hours....so this 40 hours thing leaves me with a lot of freetime.

In addition to knitting, I've decided to try to learn Spanish, with the help of a CD set from the library (free). I know a lot of German from 5 years of it in High School, but I'm not going to Germany any time soon, and there aren't any Germans to interact with.

LOL, you can come help me for free, shoveling manure, feeding, busting ice out of buckets 2x a day, checking the herd, throwing hay, trimming hooves, just bring your carharts and I'll keep you from being bored!

Re: I hate the free things to do!

Well figure out what it is you like to do & maybe try to find a way to do it free. Thier are lots of ways to do different things for free or close to it for ex going out to eat you can get a job as a mystery shopper, or if you like to go to movies thier are lots of free movie ticket rebate offers out. If you like to shop make a game of it by being a bargin hunter & using coupons & rebates with your bargins. I dont these are just things I have learned to do that has saved me alot of money Once in awhile I will say forget I am paying to go bowling or something but certainly not often I would say once a year!!!

I don't like to spend money on movies cause most of them are not good, and I don't like bad language either. I live on a creek and i could fish, but I don't eat fish. I will be glad when it warms up and I can sit on the deck over the creek.

I spend a lot of time on Ebay setting up things we don't want or need anymore. Easy way to clear out junk and amazingly someone always wants it. I also blog.

We don't do movies either for the same reasons plus it costs the same or half that amount if we wait til it's on video or borrow movies from a friend. Plus I'd have to find a sitter too. So it's not worth it at all to me. Also with alot of the movies they show all the good parts in the advertising & the rest is just blah.

I'm also with Nikki(? I think) on spending time thinking and deciding on what we can do for free. We do alot of window shopping since beyond fishing we're not into too many "out door things"

BTW.... gardening isn't free! Pulling weeds is the rest can cost big $$. My green thumb is itching to start some plants but alas it's feb & our last frost isn't until the end of may. *pout*

Re: I hate the free things to do!

I'm with you. I get clastrophobic when I stay home too much, and there are only so many of the "free" things you can do and stay entertained.

Yesterday was a a gorgeous day here so I went to the beach and picked up litter. I had a nice walk on the beach plus I did something productive. If you don't live near the beach, maybe a nice park?

My mom buys books so she brings them to my house and I read them. My fiance bought me a ping pong table for my birthday so we play when he is not in EMT school or at one of his two jobs.

Right now I am planning my wedding, so spend alot of my time making bows, preparing invitations, writing vows, and preparing agendas. Once that is over I will start on my master's degree. Neither of those are free, but they are an investment I am willing to make.

I forgot, I also work out. I bought Carmen Electra's strip tease dvds over a year ago and I work out to those. There is actually one DvD that is an aerobic workout that has nothing to do with striptease and I use it about 3 times a week.

Re: I hate the free things to do!

gardening doesn't cost a whole lot i always save seeds from the year before so the only thing that cost me when growing a garden is a little bite of gas for plowing the garden.when the garden is almost done for the year remember to save seeds for the next year. gives you something to do over winther and then again come late february too. i can start my seeds inside so when the growing season starts i have every thing i need.

we dont have any beaches here but we have a very nice park . i go there alot and feed the animals( left over bread, crackers so on). we dont have much in this town its a steel town
so not much to do. churches, bars, fastories, alot of shopping malls.a very nice skate park but im too old for that

i dont read much anymore cant find the time with a child that always needs to be doing something. i would rather be doing something with him to keep him busy. i also have two dogs a cockerspainel and a wameriner...opps cant remember how to spell it....lol
so i have alot to keep me busy just rather find free stuff to keep busy
