  • Do you do anything questionable to save money?

I am not proud of this, but hubby is a huge movie buff. When I cancelled netflix and told him we were not going to rent or go to movies anymore to help save money/pay off debt, he started downloading them from the internet... It makes me feel bad, but yes I still watch them.... Please don't let me be the only one... Confessions anyone?

I take stationery from the office (and, yes, I know there is another word that I should use instead of "take")
    I buy "pirate" DVD's, at $1/movie...

If I find good freebies, I get as much as I can by using the kids names with my maiden name. I even use the dogs name LOL I have my freebies sent to hubby's work, our house and my moms house. That way I get 3 of the same freebie.

I have used the same coupon about 4 times at the self check site at the grocery store.

-We rent movies from Blockbuster and cut ourselves a copy for our DVD collection.
-I take extra coupons from the dispenser at my local grocery store so I can use them at cheaper stores.
-I "borrow" office supplies from anyone, anywhere. I used to take them from work (before I quit), but now I'll snag a pen from the bank, or take a magazine from the doctor's office. I guess I'm a klepto.

The pens from the bank are free, they expect you to take them.

Lol! So relieved I am not the only one... I thought I was going to get flamed (or maybe kicked off?) for starting this thread.... I guess I am a goody, goody!

Here's one I've never tried (probably wouldn't but it cracks me up)....my friend collects toys... He will sometimes buy some somewhere cheap or on sale and then return them for (more) store credit at Toys R Us.

I don't ever buy cologne, I always go into a dept. store and use the tester of my favorite brand. I don't wear it that much but when I do I go for the expensive stuff, and it doesn't cost me a penny.

other then buying used or broken tupperware from yard sales and return as my own, that is about the only thing i can think of. Since were on the subject, my mom being a postal carrier for 30 years, well 28 and 2 as a sub, if you ever get an envelope and think wow the stamp isnt marked, ill use it on another letter. i dont suggest it, as they do have an unseen bar code as well and alternate. some are marked invisible, wether its to trick someone or not i dont know, but just cause it dont looked marked, dont mean its not. thought id share that.

bottom line, costs and prices go up when someone takes. and if you take more then the soap samples and such from a motel room, they will use your license or cc to catch up with ya.

My husband will sometimes take a towel from a motel if we have stayed there several days. We make our own bed and clean up the room ourselves and just ask for towels. They all seem to give us more than we need.
He uses those towels out in the garage to wash his cars.

I'll admit I use my printer at work for personal items. I also use the copier for personal copies.

I don't think I do anything else. In the past, I have loaded up on the free salt and sugar packets at fast food places, but I don't anymore, I realized it was pretty silly for very little return. I even refuse the ketchup if asked.
