Just had some of the birds eye broccoli last night. That stuff is good. Really anything birds eye is good. They go on sale a lot and there usually coupons that can be used.

I've never had anyone say anything to me other than "stocking up huh??" and then I get "where do you keep it?" We bought a deep freezer years ago to store breast milk in and now I use it to stock up. I recently added a shelf system to my laundry room to store extra pantry items. I am waiting for another good sale on chicken breast as I'm almost out!!!! There is nothing like a great sale!

I don't stock up on stuff much since it's only me and my gf and I don't have the room for a lot of stuff. However, a local supermarket will occasionally run a sale where the items are on sale plus if you buy a certain amount they'll give you a coupon for X amount of dollars off your next shopping trip. In those instances I'll stock up on what I can and get about $15 dollars off my next visit.

The best look I get sometimes is from the cashier after I hand them the $15 dollars or so in coupons plus whatever other coupons I have and then they ring up my weekend Wall Street Journal. I guess they figure if you read the Journal you're rich and shouldn't be using coupons

If it's something we (my family) consume, yes, I definitely buy cheap and stack deep. If we don't need it, I don't buy it no matter how cheap it is. I used to, but that was when I was young and hadn't learned yet.

My husband and I did one of our big stock up trips last night. The local grocery store offers up to 20% off on up to $300 worth of food for buying gas at their gas station. We hit the 20% mark and had percentage points expiring at the end of the month, so it was time to go.

We mostly stocked up on items that were on sale and/or we had coupons for so that the extra 20% off would make for a really good deal. Scope and Listerine were both on sale, and there were bonus savings for buying a certain amount of each, so we ended up with about a year's supply of mouthwash.

We like to make these trips late on weeknights when there aren't too many people around to get in the way of us pushing two shopping carts around.

The cashier seemed to be amused by us. She asked us half way through ringing us up if this was a "perks trip" and was happy to tell us at the end that our total came to $304 before the 20% off.

I haven't really gotten any strange looks unless I buy some odd mismatched items. Like cold medicine, chicken breasts, and to. My only reply is "it's gonna be one hell of a party!"

                Nice one!
I have a coupon for $10.00 off for over $200.00 (it expires on Mon), but I have not been able to get up to the $200.00 amount. A couple of weeks ago, I bought extra steaks and chicken (on sale) and I was only able to get up to $150.00 (and we won't need anymore steaks or chicken for another two or three weeks ) I hadn't thought of stocking up on mouth wash and so on.

We buy milk in bulk at Costco. We try to only go twice a month as it is a drive for us.

I once had 10 gallons of milk in my cart (it is often a full $1 or more cheaper than the local store) and a guy came over and said, "It might be cheaper to buy the cow!"

                  But I wasn't offended.

another reason to stack it deep is the inflation eating away at your every purchase, i was at the dollar store and went to grab a bottle of body wash, it had gotten much smaller than the one bought just 2 months ago. everything is getting smaller and they leave the price alone, its all smoke and mirrors.
