I have seen the shows about them. They have closets full of clothes, shoes, purses, sweaters, coats, etc. that they never have even worn.
Now I can't say that I have never bought something and never worn it, but it has happened very few times.
How can they stand have so much stuff that they can't use??
I am an anti shopoholic, but if offered the chance I could spend money, just not much on 'stuff' I prefer experiences.
I have found that the more stuff I get rid of the less stuff I want. So when I want something new I clear out some room for it, by the time I am done if I still want it I might get it.
You know, I had the feeling that none of the regulars on here are spendaholics. Most of you are sincerely trying to save money and blowing all your money on clothes is just not the way to go. The older I get, the less stuff i want.
Like other addictions, shopaholics are trying to compensate for things lacking in other areas of their lives with the short-term feel good feeling they get from buying things. It's pretty sad.
They showed one lady on Dr. Phil. She had so many clothing items, all with the tags still on them. He was going to try and get her to take some things back.
im a window shopping a holic.lol i like the time away from home with my kids too, as i said malls are usually set up for kids activities. and rightfully so, if it isnt for the kids, why would we shop? if they want my patronage kids is an issue that better be number one! mcdonalds here has just the playland, but over in paragould they also have the computer games which my kids enjoy. payless has the bogo, which is when i go, or the 5 off every 20. thats still a gr8 deal, each kid with new shoes, sandles or slippers and a new purse for chelsey and new backbag for the boys, or hat or something of equal value, on about 60 dollars, im there! lol. plus they give them stickers too. which i went to the dollar tree and bought them thier own books for one dollar, the photo albums that have the sticky pages. they put them all in there. they love it! paragould also has a 97 cent store thats in an old kmart, and its full! they even have a clothing section. here our tax is just over 6 percent, one item costs 1.06 two cost 2.13. in ark its 6 percent, so each two items saves me 7 cents. 20 items almost one dollar just on tax and the 3 cents cheaper then the dollar tree here. by the time im done there and payless shoes, i saved the gas to go there and make a trip to a bigger mcdys. sometimes i take snacks instead and we go to the park. they have fun there too. always make a call and ask questions! i called budweiser, for tour infor for dave. i dont drink beer and rarely drink period, but hes a guy, need i say more.lol. we have been planning a trip to st louis for next to nothing! the tour is free, and the lady i talked to at budweiser, she comes in from the state line, she told me about this big new park that could be almost a amusement park its that gr8, she told me how to go to it and whats by it, like dairy queen. she said drop dave off, go out of budweiser to the right, go to the next light go left and its 2 blocks, its right next to the dairy queen. she said she takes her kids for an ice cream and to the park and its all that to them! but bud is for dave, the zoo is free here shockingly so, im from detroit and entry isnt free.lol so i got the shock of the day looking online at it that entry was free. so is grant hill farms, parking costs but the tour is free. they also keep the clydesdales for budweiser at grants. they will also, cause i asked, let you take pix of your own instead of paying for thiers with your kids by the horses and stuff. the showboat in st louis and jellystone park is really the only expenses. calling and asking questions i feel is most essential! family of five weekend in st louis, food and fun for under 200 dollars. and being able to take our own pix is priceless. and the whole weekend is being jammed with stuff to do.
I would say I used to be a shopaholic, definitely not as bad as some people. But I've gotten carried away with buying things I didn't need, sometimes when stressed. I realized it was stupid to spend so much money on clothes that i really didn't need, and that I could use the money for other things. Luckily I was able to return a lot of my clothes or sell the barely worn ones on Ebay.
I enjoy safe shopping through EBay. No purchasing, however.
A good friend of mine here in the States is a horrendous shop-a-holic. She buys compulsively then returns the items upon realization that she spent the monies. I've tried to help her but it's an addiction. Bless her!
No, but my car is, I went to get gas two nights ago and my fuel pump died and that's just after I bought some new leaf springs to stop the sag I'm getting in the back. I swear sometimes, if parts were more than a fifth of the cost of new car parts I'd sell the thing.
