Hey everyone, we need a bit of help...

I have life insurance through USAA ($13/mo for $250k for 20 years) but DH can't get them to give him a good rate since he rock climbs occasionally (and hasn't been in at least a year and always goes with a guide). Since we can't afford $100 a month for him, I've decided to look elsewhere...

So does anyone have a company they like that has reasonable prices for late 20s male in good health, non-smoker, etc with a history of rock climbing?

    Or any recommendations?

I suppose the other choice is no life insurance for him...as we don't have kids or plan on them in the future, but I'd sure like to have a little bit until we are established (thus, the 20 years for mine)....

    Thanks!

I have no idea about insuring rock climbers but a couple of places to look for term quotes would be accuquote.com and zander.com.

I'd start talking to insurers (or googling) and shopping around.

I can't imagine every insurer would ask you if you do rock climbing. ??? But I could be wrong.

Granted, I haven't really applied for life insurance in like a decade. Exception being through professional association (just applied for more insurance). IF either of you belong to any sort of professional association or can get some insurance through an employer, is a place to look. I would try some other insurers first though. The catch with these is they are often cheaper and easier to get, BUT these insurances tend to renew annually and be easier to lose. BUT If no one else would insure you reasonably, I would go more the employer/professional route if possible.

        Gerber

I recently applied through Gerber and they didn't ask about rock climbing

You might want to put them as 1 of your to consider list
