  • Monthly paycheck:variable or fixed

For those of you who get paid monthly, do you get paid one flat rate per month or does your pay vary?
For instance, I've gotten paid bi-weekly and the check was the same because I got paid for 10 days of work. On the other hand, I was once compensated semi-monthly, and the pay differed. (72hrs-96 hours)

I get paid every two weeks. It's basically the same everytime.

My wife currently gets paid fortnightly (every two weeks). Pay varies, even if she works the exact same number of shifts (she gets paid extra for weekends and holidays). Last year she worked six months and was paid weekly, pay did vary but not by much.

Husband gets paid weekly, but it varies. He works 12-14 hour shifts--3 day on, then 3 off then 3 nights on, then 3 off....so one week he has night differential on there, next week he does not. Week one is 36 hours, week two is 48 hours, week three can be 60 hours if the days fall right--and then there is often overtime.
Very hard to do a budget on!

I get paid every 2 weeks but I'm paid hourly so my check varies a bit from check to check anyway. At a previous job, I was paid on the 15th and 30th and I was salaried so my check was always the same.
