  • Craig List

I found this site a few months ago to trade/sell off used items. It's all free, and I've converted quite a bit of clutter (aka old crap) into cash.

Much better than ebay, cause it's
    • free
    • local, and,
    • free

http://www.craigslist.org/ You'll see a list of cities on the right side.

Click the forsale piece in the middle, and post away

      Re: Craig List

Craigslist is a great site. They make all their money from job listings in San Francisco and New York City. Everything else is free. It has actually hurt local news papers a ton (except in jobs where the newspapers own Careerbuilder.com).

It started out just in San Francisco and has slowly grown to where it is now. Ebay owns 25% of the company. They got that through a former founding employee that was given 25% by Craig.

They aren't in my area yet. They moved to OKC about 4 months after I left, so there is hope for here. But I won't hold my breath.

Someone had their 85 Corvette listed by someone. The owner did not find it funny and filed a police report. Someone showed up with a flat bed truck at the fellas house. It is presently under investigation!

I have used craigslist a lot. I have gotten rid of some stuff plus have bought a few things as well. My father used to post for small carpentery jobs there and got a ton of calls. So if you have a service business a good place to post.

I read an article in fortune a while back about Craigslist. It is an absolute money machine and, from the take on the article, it appears the owners really don't care about the money that much. I found it unfortunate that the employee w/ the 25% stake sold it to eBay.
