Does anyone keep around any last minute just in case I forgot someone gifts? I always seem to miss a person or two this time of year and was wondering what would be a good just in case gift to have on the off chance I need one?

Re: Last minute just in case gifts
I try to keep fudge in the freezer for that, or pumpin bread. I also usually have 'girly things' like lotion or bubble bath, little mini avon things that I can pair up in a little christmassy bag for girls. (used two on saturday).
ids are harder, I want to get some dollar store coloring books and crayola crayons for them.

Re: Last minute just in case gifts
I always buy things like decorative lapel pins and bracelets, broaches that you'd find on sale at places like Dillards, JCPenney, Parisian, Ross Dress For Less, and Liz Claiborne Outlet for less than $10. Those are for the older ladies at my church that my mom reminds me to have a gift for. Otherwise, my Christmas gift-giving list is pretty much set in stone and rarely changes from year to year...family, plus a couple of friends.

Re: Last minute just in case gifts
Yep--plants. A couple times a year I repot babies from my spider plants, dragon plants, etc. If I'm going to a birthday party or similar I'll grab a baby houseplant in a decent-looking pot.
Before I had a kid I used to make beaded jewelry if I was going to somebody's birthday party. I'd just zip something together right before I left. No time for that now, and somebody would be throwing the beads everywhere.
Otherwise--if I buy a gift for someone and then I change my mind, sometimes it's not easily returnable and then it sits in my guest room until I need a spontaneous gift for someone.

Re: Last minute just in case gifts
If I find a really good buy somewhere, I'll stash it away for someone later - same thing with nice gifts I receive, but will never use. Right now my gift stash includes candles, picture frames and albums, address books/notebooks, candleholders, children's books and puzzles. This comes in handy for Chinese gift exchanges, where you need a generic gift that could work for different people. It has also saved me recently for a child's birthday party that I did not know well (for closer kids, I like to buy more personal things).
