After reading all of the responses, I must say I do enjoy getting paid, or more accurately, I enjoy when I deposit my paycheck and add that amount to my account balance. That's when I can act on some things like paying bills, making donations and funding some investments. I don't know that I'd call it exciting but it is something I enjoy doing.

Payday?

I don't get excited but I get "sigh of relief" per se because it's a day we I put more money towards retirement funds and put foods on the table. It's a day we pay down our mortgage payments (22 more years to go....). Its a day we replenish our disposable income, continue savings for x-mas, b-day, vacation, etc...basic human gratification.

I don't get excited over payday. Every once in a while, I'll be happy it's payday because then I get to buy something I needed. But yeah, I don't have all that much money in the bank. I don't live necessarily paycheck-to-paycheck because I save money, but I kind of force myself to live paycheck-to-paycheck because I'd much rather save that money than spend it on something stupid. I like paying bills though (I know I'm weird), but the sooner I pay bills, the sooner I put money into my savings account. Overall, payday is just another day, just with more steps for me to take so I can pay all my bills.

My guess is people living paycheck-to-paycheck would be most excited about payday, for obvious reasons. I don't think all of them rush out and waste the money...many are struggling to pay basic bills, not living high on the horse!

Hubby and I get paid every two weeks, on opposite weeks. So every week there is a payday! Both of our paychecks fluctuate week to week so while I wouldn't describe myself as "excited", I certainly find pleasure in finding out how much it is this week. We save over 50% of our income, so I love to click the "transfer funds" button and transfer the $$ into savings and see that grow.

Just not a fun bunch when it comes to payroll around here!
That said, I do look forward to sitting down each Saturday morning to see what I can do with my money - save more, pay down debts, etc. I do kinda enjoy paying bills as well. This is not the first time I would admit being strange. I have enough money to cover my bills though, that makes a big difference.

OK, I'm coming in late to this conversation. Yes, I DO get excited over payday, but not because we live pay check to pay check, or are in "desperate need." My husband and I both are paid bi-monthly, on the 15th and last day of the month. I'm the one who pays the bills, transfers money between accounts, ledgers the money in the budget, etc. Honestly, I enjoy this job, and I like seeing and knowing that the bills are paid on time, debt (mortgage) is getting paid off, charities are given money, and money is being put into savings. Money management is almost as a hobby for me! I honestly enjoy taking care of the household finances (and I do a darn good job at it, too!)
